Perhaps Beacon you can shed some light on the location of the D Grade finals??

Northcote Park, Clayton, Scammell Reserve and Central Reserve would be the early favourites. Shame that a venue like Williamstown, not used by the WRFL (as Werribee does), isn't a chance, particularly given the form of Westbourne and Point Cook in D4!

Dear Lack Of

FYI

VAFA has already secured grounds for Divisional Finals and are waiting to see which ones better suit the participants.
Granted not all participants will get an ideal location but as usual they are attempting to cater for the finalists given club locations.

Oh VAFA Eye is that right ?? then name the venues. When you play in a comp that is not geographically fixtured but rather ability or lack thereof determined then the travel factor is not a factor so why would they start to try and accommodate clubs at finals time when they do not do so at any level during the season..

Maximises potential for attendance/gate revenue if the finals are held close to where the participating clubs are based.

More crowds, more VAFA $$$.

WRFL will probably use Williamstoen VFL ground this year as I am told Werribee has a VFL match on it

Bill Lawry (Northcote) would have been great for most of the likely D2 finalists (Ivanhoe, Parade, Eltham and Northern Blues all still in the mix) with St Johns the only long travel from Doveton. Unfortunately, not available due to work on the ground immediately at the end of the northern footy league season I believe.

Looks like we could all be heading out to Craigieburn again that has been a massive crowd killer in recent seasons :-(

Chump.

Canada most weeks the SFL scores are in the newspaper towards the back of the paper, this week the VAFA have their scores in the Sunday Herald Sun and a little extra commentary up the front of the paper with regards a game being called off, police and an alleged broken jaw... nice work VAFA

Unlike the VAFA the SFL only require a few grounds to cover all finals. Unfortunately for them 2 of the 3 this year are absolute s%it holes and you wouldn’t graze goats on them. Even the good folk of the SFL are disappointed that they locked in venues in so early when the smart thing to do would be to wait and see how the grounds held up. The SFL makes clubs bid for the rights to host finals, which is very unpopular and restrictive.

I’d rather wait and see if the competing clubs relative locations can be considered and what grounds are in the best nick.

They also use the same s**t holes year after year.

Rooster and AM can either of you please tell everyone where the finals for D grade are being played in a couple of weeks, or will the competing clubs get a text message on the Friday night before the game? so amateurish. The Amateurish league would love to have the likes of Springvale, the best surface apart from Junction oval in Victoria. The SFL cater for the players not the snobs smoking pipes. The clubs in Div 1 have already started to train at Springvale to get acclimatised to its MCG like size and superb surface.

as someone who has been involved in Grand Finals in both the SFL and the VAFA, I can comfortably say neither Comp does it well...the SFL only has about 5-6 sides tender for Finals (all within 15-20 mins of each other), and both Heatherton and Clayton's ovals are, to put it nicely, not up to standard.Finals should only ever be played at Springy, Chelth and Mordi. The Ammo's have a much harder job getting enough ovals and trying to make all sides happy. But I agree, it should be set by Early August.

FYI, having played on both Springvale and Casey Fields (which in the last 2 years has hosted Prem C and Div 2 Am Finals) I can easily say that Casey snots all over Springy in both Surface and facilites.....

The feedback from those who played at Springvale last year was that the surface was ordinary – rock hard, uneven and patchy and I’m hearing it's not much better this year. Compared to the other 2 grounds used for SFL final’s it stacks up ok (actually a goat track stacks up ok compared to Heatherton & Clayton) but in the grand scheme of suburban grounds Springvale is mediocre at best.

Several substantially better grounds within the SFL (Mordi, Cheltenham immediately spring to mind) but clubs quite rightly can’t be bothered with the ridiculous tender process.

You must not have talking to the players they loved it and have started to train there in preparation for this years tilt, your info is inaccurate.
Please let everyone know if you hear where this years amateurish finals will be played, the feedback is overwhelming now that the VAFA have stuffed up again and are letting the clubs down..happens every year, so what if they have more games then start discussions with councils and clubs earlier and do not give me the location argument as every club has to travel as it is not a geographically designed league it is simply another failure to get their act into gear earlier enough by this amateurish group of administrators.

It's frustrating not knowing where your finals will be played until the week prior, but in the grand scheme of things does it really matter that much? If you're good enough you'll win wherever, regardless of the dimensions/location/quality of dimmies in the canteen.

The information came from the players – a good number of lads who played in for last years premiers previously played at our club. We still follow each other’s fortunes with great interest and the consensus (as with many in the SFL) is that they would much prefer Mordi and Cheltenham or even other venues beyond the SFL (Trevor Barker Oval, Noble Park, Shepley Oval and others). However the absurd tendering process will not allow that to happen.

And btw they are not and have not been training at Springvale this year or last
