I don't so much mind the silence form the club or the lack of specific comment PROVIDED they are working to get the best result.

The Lakers are notorious for this. You hear NOTHING but media rumours and SFA from the organisation till it goes down and then WHAM they make a statement and the deal is done and usually well.

Doing business thru the media can backfire fast. Lack of trade by media is acceptable to me pending the results.

I love that you compare my footy team to my basketball team. Makes me happy :)

so i will avoid the chriso thread now as it will be meltdown central for a few days.

Three things still up in the air, Varcoe/Clark, Hunt and Lonners.

Lonners may not happen now after the coach leaving.

Hunt hasn't been linked to anyone, but is likely gone according to balme.

Varcoe sounds like he wants to go to the pies, and a part of the clark deal most likely.

so that leaves us with;

out: Christensen, Varcoe, Hunt, (lonners), stringer, burbury, schroder
in: Clark, 14, 21, (27), 35, 55, Blitz, (pick 9999 for hunt)

thoughts?

I was really hoping for a pick in the 9980's for Hunt. Perhaps I over rate him?

there is no other team.
Is it fair to say that if there was any B+ grade players 'thinking' about making a move to another club that their player managers would now be on the phone to them suggesting that Geelong might be ripe to pay overs to attract someone to the club other than Mitch Clark?

It's disappointing that we are only taking pick 21 and not even saying that they might have considered looking in to Merrett as a top-up cum stop-gap if Lonergan moves on too.

Damien Barrett reporting that Luke Dahlhaus wants out too... There couldn't be another, could there?
if anything, he'd replace Bundy immediately. In my view though, I'm just unsure his ceiling is all that high, some guys show you what they can do early on but tend to stagnate or get very little lift while others appear to be working within themselves (holding back) but everynow and agan they'll give you a game that shows what they're capable of as a consistent footballer later on the down the track. Bundy was of those with more upside but Dahlhaus could improve if he changed environment perhaps?

So we have 14, 21, 35

TV, Bundy, Burbury, Stringer,Schredder, Bourke out.

Blitz, Clarke in.

That seems like 3 active picks so far.

Still to fall. T Hunt out?

2 Rookie list spots open.

Thats a busy trade period.

also we dont know what other delistings may happen still. if we cant find a trade for brown and hunt do we keep them or delist them and take 2 more picks in the draft? pick 55 may in essence be much lower due to alot of player movement and father sons etc.

So let me get this straight.

We roll over and swap Bundy for a pathetic 21 because he is uncontracted.

But are forced to trade a proven player for another player who is not only uncontracted, but a player who recently retired from depression, and has played 15 games since 2012?

Can someone tell me how we are not merely giving up pick 65 for Clark if we are so 'happy' to accept 21 for our second best mid?

GFC have completely lost it.

lol Bundy for 21 is bad enough but losing Varcoe for Clark is a joke

Varcoe should be worth around pick 25-30 considering he is contracted, Clark is worth around pick 40 at best and that is generous considering his issues and the fact he chose us. If we give up Varcoe then Melbourne should be giving us at least pick 23 for the 27 we hopefully get for lonergan.

Just don't understand how Varcoe can play every game, play his best games in finals and then get shipped of in a deal where we should be bending over Melbourne? Why aren't we just giving them 55? or finding a way to get a pick in the 40's?

Whats next? maybe Taylor Hunt for a token late round pick is my guess.

Well. We have little leverage in this trade as well.

Melbourne don't want Clark. He is retired. They are annoyed with us for Rivers (and Frawley). And they don't care if he doesn't go to Geelong.

So Melbourne can set a price, and we will pay it b/c we need him.

Looking like hunt will be the sixth to go and maybe brown the 7th so we will have picks 15, 21 35 and our 3rd rounder plus whatever we get for hunt.

I still reckon we have more trades we will do to get some mid depth (maybe newton) and hopefully a ruck.

We don't need Clark and he can walk to us anyway as no club would dare pick him up considering he chose us.

Should of said here are your options Melbourne, we give you pick 55 or we give you Taylor Hunt, we know 55 isn't really fair so if we manage to snag a better pick in the 40's we will give you that.

We could also trade Varcoe and 55 to the pies for 30 and 48 and give 48 to Melbourne for Clark.
