I could never quite understand the urgency of some BF posters to see Simpkin's papers stamped, just knew where the ball was going and racked possessions, the Hawks weren't deluded.
Vanilla now gets 30 possessions a game at times, not bad for a maligned player.
Do you reckon he'd be a regular if he was playing at the Cattery, meto? Or a 5-10 game per year player?

Ch7 were oozing about this kid with good hands. I was expecting a Kertsen but he was really more like a strong bodied mid , and we know he could play forward.
He has done some work then. Good on him. Gives clubs something to think about.
what's hit tatt, Pivot?
I recall it being some palm tree on an island or something like that.

No one in their right mind will take him. why are Geelong supporters so deluded about the ability of our reserves players. Walker has one more year of a contract and then he will be playing in the local leagues.
Not sure he even has that.
But if Brown goes, Walker goes nowhere.

Watching a bit of GWS V Tigers. Really they had so much ball and seemed to waste it forward. Plenty of talent but I just wonder its a little too inexperienced , a little too compacted in age group. Patton will be good but he is like Tommy early doors. He need Moons to structure round.
What would be perfect for them at moment is a Hawkins or someone like that to help him,to sort out their forwardline rather than having 2 very talented but very green guys.

Does that me putting up Hawk for trade. NO. But maybe the trading of one of the guys for the right mix of player or picks is not so far out of the mix.

Not sure if this has been posted yet and its a bit of a nothing piece really but it does say Poodle has put talks on hold.

Of course, his playing has been hampered by a groin so its not like he is not playing right now because of he is out of favour so the wording is a bit slanted - imagine that - but the fact remains he has not signed a new deal.

Might be looking elsewhere and would probably get a go in 16 other teams or so…

Watching the replay this morning (Went to the game last night). Listening to these commentators on 7 you wouldn't even know there was another team on the ground the way they were crapping on about north in the first qtr.
and the beauty is that, IF, and it is still If, we keep winning the next 4 games, their tears and greatest fears of us still be relevant will be realised.

So id expect much more cheering for everyone playing against Geelong. Ignore and write us off please….

Heres an interesting thought given that our Rd1 is being discussed.
Would we rather see our Rd1 go to WC for Selwood or to Carlton as part of package for Tenzel.

Id almost rather see Selwood for the inside help rather than the excitement and skills of Tenzel.

Not that either are really likely but we only have 1 x Rd1 pick and these are 2 choices potentially ( albeit small) available to us…

GO Catters
Selwood for mine, less risk, more of what we actually need.

Really 16? Cant open the link but does say who he is talking to Daz? I agree he would fit quite a few sides well, his age and experience most side out of the 8 would say Yes please. But I wonder , as in the history of recruiting players that play good verses you , if Carlton would be after him. His foot skills would be better than some of the guys getting games.

Can't blame him. Not that he has been treated badly - he hasn't - but injuries have hampered and now he would be struggling to see where he fits in at Geelong. He would get a game at around 8 other clubs and middle of the road players are well within their rights to make the most of their careers by seeking AFL games elsewhere.

Worth in your opinion? Hard to gauge for mine. R3?

If we could trade Poodle for just an upgraded on our second or, more likely, our 3 rd pick - I would be fine with that. It helps us open up a spot on our senior list for ND picks and he deserves to get a new home where he could see quite a few games.

Say we upgrade our third pick 5-6 places we have got something for him. Not sure this would happen but worth trying IMO.

FA has just about killed fringe player trades.Delisted is FA ... its seem the only players that really can demand a good trad is ones still under 22.

Smedts and Hunt as a package?
This is what free agency says about primary listed players:
Primary List
Players delisted by a club are unrestricted free agents but a player who retires or delists himself is not eligible to be a free agent.

So if we delist Hunt he would be a free agent, but (I could be wrong in my interpretation of it) if Hunt rejects a contract from Geelong and essentially delists himself he wouldn't be a free agent and instead would have to go through the draft.

If the later is the case, then it does allow to trade fringe players who are still wanted by their original club because you can't just walk and expect to go to the club of your choice.

I think you have misunderstood my point.

I quite understand the difference between delsit and uncontracted types... but FA has devalued all of the players at this end. We have to cut three min. Lets say Schroder, Stringer and Enright. 1 retires the other two walk to whereever for zip. Clubs can get these fringe players for nothing and the difference between a Hunt being a non delisted and a Schroder being a delisted ...marginal. Every club has to do this so why pay geelong R2 for Hunt a player who i playing VFL? I'll look at the delists from Swans or Hawks or where ever.

Question who of our marginal players are comming out of contract. Hunt is. What about Brown, Smedts,Schroder,Stringer,Walker.......

Hunt is still a useful player who has had injury problems this year, no point getting rid of him for steak knives.

A lot of clubs would like a guy with his pace and toughness.

I think pick 40-50 is pretty fair

Fair? Its ludicrous. Half the guys picked in this range will not be worth anything to the club and will be gone before playing 10 games. Hunt has shown he can play at the level. Picks really are far to highly rated
