Cowan will stay - the club has shown time and again that injury unless its career ending is a not a reason to move a bloke a on. If that were the case, Simpson, Menzel, Vardy and Cowan would all be gone by now.

Hunt will elect to leave (he would be a best 22 starter at some lower clubs).brown delisted.cowan to rookie list.walker will stay with brown gone and they rate burbs so he will stay.

Stringer and schroder are 50/50 depending in how many list spots we need to clear
Hunt has already started to leave, via his manager's leaked "not signing yet" bit - aka an advert - in the rags just recently.

Simpson can be an absolutely dominant tap ruckman. He's gone over 50 hitouts, what, 3-4 times in 20-something games?
Twice, against the league's 2 weakest sides, and one of those in a cyclone where no ruckman could leave the ground.

However, he's only had 24 games; he's missed a lot through injury; and in particular, both he and McIntosh have both missed serious pre-season time, which takes years to catch up on.

But we do need to start developing another young ruckman asap, unless we are punting on (a) Simpson developing into a no.1 ruckman before Macca finishes, and (b) our being able to buy a back-up off the shelf at that time.

Does this stat work against the need to recruit Frawley unless one of our KPD's decides to retire:
By Taylor’s own admission, he started the year a little down.
In his defence, he was always stopping his man. Taylor is rated the best one on one defender in the AFL across the whole season. He has the lowest losing percentage (10.4 per cent) in one-on-one contests of all key defenders who have played a minimum eight games.
Three of the five players in that category are Cats — Taylor (1st), Tom Lonergan (2nd) and Jared Rivers (4th).
I don't think I realised our strong & consistent our defenders had been over the course of the whole season - Rivers has looked good, but Taylor & Lonergan didn't seem to be having the same impact as previous seasons, but defensively they are doing their jobs week-in week-out. Are we kinda tainted with out thinking of how they have been performing due to lack of talk in the media about them - I don't think I have heard any of those 3 mentioned as potential AA squad members, yet they are doing the job they are asked to do but are getting over looked in the media by players who can do the fancy stuff better but not the defensive stuff.

As someone who's opinion I have a lot of time for I have to agree with this post.

But the 50/50 on Schroder does bum me out and I've never really been sold on Burbury.

But it looks about right to me.

Wouldn't be expecting much more than what we paid for him.
So around pick 40.
That's roughly where I have him.

Late 30s to mid 40s.

He's a tricky one because his experience and age might make him a little more attractive (and possibly worth a little bit more).

But I've always been lukewarm on him.

Yeah I've been hot and cold. There was a stage there where his attack on the ball and any opposition in possession was manic.
Then he got injured...

He also seemed to have some very good starts to the season, but as the season went on his output/impact seemed to drop also. He has played 1 of each season since 2011 (his 2010 debut came half way through the year), but other then in 2012, he has lost his spot in the side before our last game of the season. Not sure if its due to starting as the sub or being subbed off, but he doesn't seem to finish as strongly as he starts.

Hasn't really been the same since then.

Gotta admit, he played some handy footy prior to that collarbone.
It makes me wonder if the groin issue has been a problem for longer than we think. Maybe not so much last year (I've put that down to his collarbone) but he's been nowhere near his best this year either, has he? He played half a dozen early games (can't remember if he got dropped or injured after the last Freo game) but has barely been sighted, or spoken of, since then.

What would you guys be asking for Taylor Hunt?
To be honest Geelong really try to take care of the guys on their list , if that means getting less and getting them to a club of their choice , its usually what they do. Perhaps rather than a pick , would a player trade be more to your liking.

Just putting it out there, reckon he would be a great fit for the Bombers but we have no draft picks to play with
He's got toe and he's probably just as useful forward as defence, not that he's been given much opportunity there at Geelong. Personally I reckon he'd be a real good fit as you say. Chappy would know him well enough to vouch for his hardness and abilities.
Has been trained as a lock down type, but has more game than only a negating role player imo. Would be a good mutual if a deal could be struck either by player, draft pick or upgrades.
Personally I like him and would rather play him over Varcoe any day.
