They still got whipped.
Recently at Geelong whipping boys have proved the naysayers wrong. I hope Brown and Walker do so as well and join recent targets like Stokes and Caddy/Rivers/HMac last year. Hartman (at VFL level) also.

Geelong FC have patience. They also know what they need and know that very few KPPs take less than 3 years to develop. Walker off the
rookie list is tracking nicely. Brown is more of a conundrum but I saw him play prior to injury and you could see the raw talent.

Hate to say it, but these blokes are trade bait or finished...IMHO (In My Humble Opinion).

Trade if possible: Brown, Hunt, Varcoe, Walker
Delist: Menzel, Burbury, Stringer, Cowan, Sheringham

We need two talls and at least two new inside mids and two inside/outside mids.

Drafting a prime tall defender may not mean waiting 3-4yrs if a solid lad is chosen high in the draft.

Last year we passed on Daniel McStay and Gardiner both have played senior footy for Brisbane already, first season boys!

This year there's a couple that will go high and may slide to us, can we afford to overlook a quality key defender a year further down the track, I don't think so.
Yep, absolutely vital we pick a diamond from the rough this year.

As Brown is out of contract, and as we are not playing Brown, and as we promised Brown last contract to play him, he may well choose to leave for further opportunities.
I think that is it.

It isn't so much a question of whether or not we can afford to let him go (I think we probably can).

Rather it is more a question of what we can say to make him want to stay.

I'm not particularly enamoured with Brown but I could certainly see why he'd request a trade/walk out.

I just hope Brown gets these two weeks to save himself. He will surely play this week and Hawkins will almost certainly be rested in the last round so that should be another opportunity.

His career really is on a knife edge, in a month's time he could be playing in a Prelim Final, or his AFL career could be over.

I'd still prefer keeping him, unless we bring in another experienced tall forward. I don't think we can assume Vardy and Menzel will be fit next year.

Didn't Brown shop himself around a couple of years ago during trade week but there was no interest from other clubs? I remember something about Geelong saying he was a wanted player, but if a suitable deal was offered they would look at it, and considering how Geelong does tend to look after players who seek new homes rather then just playing hardball, would think that if any approach was made 2 years ago Geelong would have trade to make a deal happen.
So if there was no interest in Brown 2 years ago, what has he done since to make teams want to go after him this year? Considering that over the past 2 years we have recruited Rivers, have apparent interest in Frawley it indicates we don't see Brown as a real long term option in defence, and he hasn't had an extended run as a forward even when we have had opportunities for him.

I recall it slightly differently - he shopped himself around and Hawthorn was interested but as a contracted player we didn't entertain a swap.

That certainly happened to Gilles didn't it? Hawks wanted him but he was contracted, so stayed put. Was it 12 months later Hawks no longer wanted him and he was eventually delisted from Melbourne?

That's a good point you make, if we find a suitor we shouldn't procrastinate. Get someone or something while we can.

They offered us pick 33 as well... they used it on Brad Hill.

If I'm another club looking at Brown I'm thinking 'how can he not break into that forward line?'

I'd be surprised if there's any interest. I'm tipping it's Cats or nothing for him in 2015.
There are plenty of teams in the lower half of the ladder that he'd get a game for pretty easily.

And now he's at St Marys with another great Geelong hope - Kane Tenace
Anyone know if David Clarke is still there as well ?

Bulldogs - he'd easily be a better option than Liam Jones or Jarrod "Twiggy" Grant
With a few ex-Cats involved in coaching there it could be an option
I'd have to disagree with you, I think that he would be on par with those two and his output would be similar to them.

The way Scotts been kicking his tyres lately nothing but their no1 draft pick would get the job done.
AIOT.
