Cant speak for POBT, but agree with the post. Some people were seriously talking rubbish about our own players for winning club awards.

If you are going to be that sensitive to a post like that, and look down on people liking it, perhaps internet forums arent for you.

Short of labeling each person individually, I'm not sure what I could have done. Those people who liked the post know who they are. I don't need to say it.

I was surprised because many of them were people I have a lot of respect for. As I said, I hoped they'd rethink it.

Just to recap the discussion so far, I posted my opinion on the voting system and the result it had produced, another poster wrote a pretty nasty attack at those who held that opinion, I called that poster on it, and now I'm getting called a bunch of names.

chopperduck seems to be taking the opportunity to vent some sort of grievances. About what, I don't know.

Anyway... Gee I'd love to talk about the fairy tale resurrection of Mitch Robinson, the immediate stellar returns on investing in Dayne Beams (winning from 16 games) and the continued renaissance of Stef Martin.

I was really disappointed (actually, closer to shirted off would be more accurate) to see pages of criticism of the voting system and some even taking direct shots at the club because of a coincidence in the final tally. B&F night is supposed to be a celebration. If there is one night to shelve the incessant negativity and addiction to finding fault...

FWIW I actually like the voting system. It rewards consistency and contribution across the whole year and focussed heavily on compliance to the game plan. Consistency and compliance to the plan are 2 key factors that will drive success for us heading into next year and beyond. The anomalous result is mostly reflective of our massively inconsistent year where too few contributed in too few games and a highest vote tally of 130/240 reflects that. Just coincidence that so many players were equally inconsistent through a number of factors.

The votes also highlight our injury plight in massive neon lights. And not just the games missed but also players who struggled through niggles and didn't reach peak form (thinking specifically of Rich and Redden who just didn't seem right for large parts of the year but couldn't really take the break they needed for minor injuries).

There have been a lot of very legitimate things to upset and disgruntled about recently - player walkouts, draft undermining, trade whispers, grubby journalists etc.

I guess a lot of people looked at this result as an opportunity to enjoy an unlikely but positive news story (4 actually) about the club.

I thought it was a great result in a pretty flat year. Most of us picked Beams or Stef. Robbo has been the story of the year BECAUSE none of us really wanted him. Zorko seems the outlier but he gets noticed.

Also interesting that Lester won the most professional player award... I'm still very curious about what the internal view of Lester is. I rate him as an inside player (which is a role we desperately need) but still doesn't seem to get a run at it (especially not in the midfield)

If the voting was rigged they would have made it a clear winner or a tie ... three way at the most ... a four way tie pretty much has to be a statistical anomaly in theory and in practice I am thrilled that so many of our top ones are the ones we chose to adopt or our future core. Would we have had the same winners if we had had a full list all year? Not likely ... but you can only play the team that shows up.

Reminds me of a quote ... determinism is the cards you are dealt ... free will is how you play the hand.

Seems the Brisbane BF board is reflecting our team. Happens when you are not winning. At the end of the day four players winning a B&F is left field so comments will be made but it is noted that not long ago three players won the Brownlow. Didn't hear to much jumping up and down then.

Time for quality posters to bury the hatchet or take it somewhere else.

Lets praise the four (or pick a favourite) that secured the gong. For mine I can't believe the year Robbo has had. Just goes to show that you can turn it around. Congratulations Robbo!

From memory, my "mistake", in POBT-land, was to offer a poor opinion of Bewick's skills. Or more precisely, his decided lack thereof. I may have put it in more colourful terms.

I stand by my opinion. Bewick is simply not up to AFL standard. As amply demonstrated over an extensive career.

The fact that in spite of his lack of credentials he still scores the odd game is indicative of our current position.

Feel free to offer yer prefessionerl opinion.

Waking up to see a 4 way tie, was to say the least a wtf moment.

Looking at the b&f predictions on other thread most predicted the top 4( equal 1st).

Even though some have taken a negative few on it I'm more than happy for the medalists. All worthy winners.

Great stories with each of them.
Robbo- the unwanted cannonball trouble maker turns his life around.

Zorks-the little man that just could!
The magician has delivered.

Stef- a on the outer maligned big man. That 1 doggies game against Minson Changed his life. He now has changed the way rucks play.

Beams- the high profile addition many bagged was only good because he had great plAyers feeding him. Instead takes on full responsibility and sets the bar for effort and skill without the lowering of his standards.

P.s have always loved big footy for the news and views but please take the tit 4 tat personal swipes to the car park. I'm sure that 2 pages of built up energy can be used on other supporters.
