Is there an echo in here? :p

Looking over Hawthorn's list it's tough to see who we'd want. Not much point giving up a running HB/Wing for another of the same, we're good for inside mids, so we're looking at a ruckman, tall defenders or a handy forward.

Can't see the Hawks parting with Frawley/Gibson/Roughead/Gunston/Breust, so McEvoy is about the only one I can think of. Maybe Yarran for Big Boy and their 2nd?
Yarran has some serious skill while MeEvoy is just average...mate he's not even much of an upgrade on Wood, certainly not enough for Yarran.

McEvoy takes marks but isn't a good tap ruck. Just another incomplete ruckman that weakens us when on field. Hawks play Ceglar with Hale resting. Hale is fading but McEvoy can't go forward as often as they need him to with Ceglar in the ruck.

If Yarran wants to go, they have to make it worth our while, unless we think FA compo will be gone by next year when he is eligible. As it stands we need to get more in a trade than we would in compo for a player that is a year younger than he will be when eligible.

1st rounder and a fringe best 22 Hawks player might do it. Their fringe players are obviously worth more than ours.
Well, you have to argue each player specifically because while i see your point that Hawks are the premier team so their fringe players are likely to be better than some of ours, you could also argue that their fringe players look better than they are because they are in the best system, coaching wise etc. Put them in a lesser system and you could see them falter and not play as well as they did at the Hawks.

Did someone say Yarran for McEvoy and a second rounder? Please never make a trade suggestion again.

Re Hendo he is certainly one who hasn't come along with the group over the past few weeks, I would be seriously cashing in on him and using what we get to secure Charlie Dixon.

I thought about this also.

Would we send Geelongs first pick (that we get for Hendo) to GC for Charlie Dixon? ...

Or would we bank it to take the best midfielder available and continue to use our first on the best KPP available?

Then again, not sure I'd want for us to cough up another 700k per season on an injury prone player - after the Daisy experience.

I'm not sure why the love in with Dixon? VERY injury prone, and a terrible kick for goal. Has certainly had some nice moments, but we have a much cheaper version in Cas, who is only a year or two older.

If Cas keeps improving, well we will have one of the better dollar for pound forwards in the AFL. He just needs to get the footy 5 more times a game, and kick an extra goal a game and he would be right up there. IF Cloke played the game Cas did on Sun everyone would be creaming about him...

We gotta stop this sort of thing - carlos, aisake, hampson, labi - very low percentage stuff. It's gaelic or it's not.
Agree with you, but if you are going to include late converts like hampson, then I counter with man of the MOment, army, plus bell. Plus jezza just coz I can...

Edit: I completely agree it's a hail Mary sideshow, but at least the cat B rookie option means it's basically a free hit.

Prefer to keep Hendo than get Dixon. He finds it hard enough staying on the park, playing only 56 of Gold Coasts 100 games. Can you imagine what that would be like once he was at Carlton? He'd be lucky to get on the field 30 times from the next 100 games with our tall luck.

Also, Hendo hasn't come along with the group the past 3 weeks? I reckon he's been great.

That's exactly why I don't understand the concept of trading Hendo...to do what, get in a cheap imitation Hendo? No fanks.

Suckling is ordinary .. Way overrated by many, including his kicking... McEvoy also ordinary. Saints did well out of that trade.

Liam Shiels is the bloke I'd want, but they wouldn't part with him.
I'd be reticent about trading with Hawthorn. Most clubs are usually on the wrong end of their trades. Take a good player out of the Hawks environment and transplant them at say, Carlton, and I think they'd be decidedly ordinary. A generalisation I know.

I like what Dixon brings on the field. He's big and aggressive, which to be honest is something we don't particularly have in the forward line. Hendo is nice. Cas is nice (but has no problems busting a pack open). Wood playing forward atm is so nice he'll probably walk you to your car after the game. But that said, what's that good aggression worth sitting in the stands half the time?

Possibly looking to add a new big man to our list. 23 years old, 206cm.

Thoughts?
Korchek is an American version of Shaun Hampson. Has undeniable athleticism and hence potential but something was lacking. Did very well at junior college level - would have been a man among boys some games - but then didn't do anything after he got to the division one level at the Wildcats. Trouble is putting too much stock into the Wildcats because they're one program that has a strong recruiting program so always have great prospects.

Agreed.

Dixon is a lazy, undisciplined, pea hearted squib who plays one good game in 6 and has shown himself a poor leader.

Dixon's far too injury prone and his goal kicking isn't great.

Off-field issues as well. No leadership qualities.

Miles away from Henderson's worth.

Hopefully we don't push out quality players who are loyal to the club for the sake of it.
