If he was wasn't given a chance in the seniors at GWS it means he wasn't rated even after they went out and chased him when at Sydney.
So you're going to write him off because someone at GWS didn't like him?

Who would you prefer to play as a small forward next year, just out of interest?

He was average at Footscray, what would make you think he'd be any different with us?
Change of environment can make a big difference with some players. Obviously that hasn't played out with Liam but that doesn't mean that every player that moves clubs is going to be at the same standard as what they were with their previous club.

In my eyes next year and the year after don't even matter as far as onfield results go. We are not going to win more than 5-6 games either year.

Carlton starts again in 2018, so only draft players who will be part of the plans from then on.

Whether Lamb is a yes or no in that regard is up to the list manager to decide. I just hope its not a decision based on next seasons needs

Perhaps we can relax, at least the uncertainty has gone but I can't help but think it's an opportunity lost.
Not at all. I'm taking it all as a huge positive - we wouldn't get drawn into offering huge money just to entice him across, showing that the club has already taken a massive step forward from the previous regime (Daisy contract, Warnock etc).

If it means we're in a better position to get Tomlinson, Plowman and/or a few extra top 20 picks, I'm 100% for it and very happy about the direction SOS and Bolts is taking us in.

Lamb is a small forward who fills a clear need and is in the right age brack; and has the added bonus of wanting to play for us, come home (VIC) and will be hungry for first-team opportunity.

He should come cheap so I see it as a low-risk pickup that we should at worst feel (as B&S does) lukewarm about. Completely different to the Liam Jones situation, though I do hope we only get Lamb on a max 2 year deal if it does happen.

I'm not wanting him because he will be at his third club at 22.

The kind of players we need going forward aren't journeymen at 22.

With respect to your opinion, there are plenty of young players who flourish at their 2/3rd club through lack of opportunity. The most obvious and relevant one being Everitt. Don't write him off just yet B.

Casboult's manager has just said there's a chance Levi will be off elsewhere next season.

Boooooo.

Like who?

I can't think of too many players who are at their third club at 22 and turned into anything decent.

Everitt is a journeyman, if we were a decent side he'd struggle to have much of an impact. If that's the kind of players we're going to target going forward we're going to be rubbish for a long while.

IF Yaz ends up at Hawthorn for pick 18, the most enjoyable part will be listening to Damo and Wallet trying to explain why the best trading club in the AFL have given up a first round pick for a player they reckon deserves nothing like it. Might warrant a few clarification calls to TWR. Fingers crossed.
The List Manager at Hawks must be a complete idiot.

To even consider giving up pick 18 for a VFL player that Tiger supporters state has a bad attitude and is barely worth a 3rd round pick?

Tigers board will be hilarious reading/trolling if this gets over the line!

Man it's demoralising to scan the AFL website or trade rumour pages and see Zac Smith going somewhere, Carlile choosing where he wants to be, Danger going to the Cats, Henderson and Yarran moving, the Treloar negotiation update, Cam McCarthy updates and Carlton is linked to......... Jed Lamb. Whoever he is.

Guys I think you guys can get Treloar via a trade.

RFC will take pick 1 would love to get Weitering.

We can offer more picks to GWS than Pies relating to Treloar.

However for Treloar to go to CFC he will probably want more incentive which is why CFC is chasing other GWS players which is fair enough.

We might be able to help and offer something to CFC to possibly but will possibly need something from GWS to offset that but I think this is doable.

The main thing is getting CFC up in 4 years or so the likes of Treloar would want to come in the first place. A number of deals over a few years apart from draft picks will probably need to take place and maximising the 2016 draft for CFC would be critical which I am sure CFC are aware of.

I mentioned in a previous post we could lose Weitering to CFC in the future via FA because by then we will need to rebuild ourselves. I think Weitering is a CFC supporter to so that helps the argument to get Treloar to CFC because basically for Treloar you say it won't happen straight away but it will happen, the building blocks are in place and you can be part of the legacy getting CFC back up again apart from simply premiership success after a few years of hard work!

Lmfao if Carlton is losing #1 to get Treloar it won't be going to Premiershipmond it would be going to the GWS and we would get a lot more than just Treloar back ..... I got modded for saying less stupid things than that over on the Premiershipmond board .....

We've gotta fill our list somehow mate - can't just magic up another three or four first rounders this year because we only want top end players at Carlton.

If SOS and Bolton think he'll play a role, he'll come here for next to nothing on a 2-year deal. That gives us two years to work with him and decide if he's part of our long-term plans. If he's not, we've got two drafts to find an appropriate replacement. We're not going to become a Hawthorn overnight, and there will be plenty of players who go through the mill on our way to success. They'll be given their chance - it's up to them to make something of it.
