We've gotta fill our list somehow mate - can't just magic up another three or four first rounders this year because we only want top end players at Carlton.

If SOS and Bolton think he'll play a role, he'll come here for next to nothing on a 2-year deal. That gives us two years to work with him and decide if he's part of our long-term plans. If he's not, we've got two drafts to find an appropriate replacement. We're not going to become a Hawthorn overnight, and there will be plenty of players who go through the mill on our way to success. They'll be given their chance - it's up to them to make something of it.
How about we use the picks we get from the players we're losing to draft some of our own talent.

Man it's demoralising to scan the AFL website or trade rumour pages and see Zac Smith going somewhere, Carlile choosing where he wants to be, Danger going to the Cats, Henderson and Yarran moving, the Treloar negotiation update, Cam McCarthy updates and Carlton is linked to......... Jed Lamb. Whoever he is.
Blue and Silver are you going to stand up for your man or what?

I like it Faz.

Carlisle wanted us but we were firm on our (fair) fair offer. Saints have given him delusions of grandeur and he's taken the bait.
Treloar deal hitting a hurdle is also good, as long as the odds are, he could well walk to the PSD. Jackpot!
Henderson and Yarran are moving, but we're still expecting first round picks. Hawthorn interested in Yarran will improve the market value.

I'm glad we're keeping quiet on our activity at the moment - hopefully it means we've got things well and truly sewn up with Plowman and Tomlinson and therefore there's no further discussions needing to be had. The list of players we were linked to is gradually being whittled down, which is hopefully an indication that we're being selective with our recruits this year.

Wouldn't be too much risk in bringing in a 22 year old (Lamb).
2 year deal, see what happens.
Could easily play as a small forward for us, and has the potential to kick a few goals.
Comparing him to Jones is just stupid, very different type of players.

3 retirements, at least 4 delistings (hopefully 5 if Warnock gets the boot). That's 8 spots to fill before we look at trade returns. There are going to be some 2-for-1's this year, and it's not going to be 2 first rounders for someone like Bell or Casboult.

Every club turns players over - if it's not Lamb it will be someone else in two years.

The sort of slander Faz 2000 has unleashed will not be forgotten when he holds the Coleman aloft
I look forward to being paraded through the streets in humiliation!

Yeh, I do get it too. There's no one player that fixes our issues, and paying the crazy money or trade price for some guys out there is bad business. It just hammers home how much we are not a attractive "destination" club. Nobody is feeling the "go home factor" to Carlton.

He'd work well for them. Tough, crash-marking forward who can put a big exclamation point in their forward line
Yeah he can drag an opponent out of Pavlich's space too. Unless Pav retires, then they're in trouble.
Not sure what trade currency they have, also going for Bennell and McCarthy???
It's Ross Lyon. Maybe he spends big on one tilt next year

Our link to Brad McKenzie of Norths is interesting. Should come cheap and he can play, but only got 1 game this year. He is only 22/23 so maybe worth a punt.

Maybe Norths will have a crack at Yarran as they could use the speed. Their first round pick and McKenzie would be OK?

Nobody is doing it publicly ;)

Lennon hasn't signed with Richmond, despite how certain their supporters were that it would happen weeks ago.
Plowman and Tomlinson are keen on us, we're just not talking to the media about it.
Carlisle was holding out on St Kilda for a long time because he wanted to come to Carlton. Can't blame him for taking an extra couple of million.

Don't be surprised if we're keeping our talks discreet and advising our targets that they don't need to have their names in the paper this time of year.

I think the way Hawks won this year shows the other teams they need to improve their list.
Clubs like Richmond, Norths, Freo, Geelong need to replenish and go hard now before GWS dominate.

Guys I think you guys can get Treloar via a trade.

RFC will take pick 1 would love to get Weitering.

We can offer more picks to GWS than Pies relating to Treloar.

However for Treloar to go to CFC he will probably want more incentive which is why CFC is chasing other GWS players which is fair enough.

We might be able to help and offer something to CFC to possibly but will possibly need something from GWS to offset that but I think this is doable.

The main thing is getting CFC up in 4 years or so the likes of Treloar would want to come in the first place. A number of deals over a few years apart from draft picks will probably need to take place and maximising the 2016 draft for CFC would be critical which I am sure CFC are aware of.

I mentioned in a previous post we could lose Weitering to CFC in the future via FA because by then we will need to rebuild ourselves. I think Weitering is a CFC supporter to so that helps the argument to get Treloar to CFC because basically for Treloar you say it won't happen straight away but it will happen, the building blocks are in place and you can be part of the legacy getting CFC back up again apart from simply premiership success after a few years of hard work!
RFC will take NOTHING.

Weitering will be wearing NAVY BLUE soon enough!

Nice troll & good try!

I am not having a go at you guys but IMO I think you guys need to think a little laterally to where you need to go.

What you guys really need is a plan IMO that works and is really achieveable and I am sure CFC is not unaware of this and not calculated there own plan. I am not trying to sell you anything but question me if you think I am off the mark.

ATM Carltons big strength is cap space. You have a few stars but you also have a lot of cap space which can be increased when others leave and retire. This will not be there later when you guys are up and about with a great list charging in finals. So all I am suggesting is CFC can maximise the cap space advantage by chasing the likes of Treloar now with bigger deals. One way of building lists is just draft draft draft but I think from where the CFC list is at, reflected by players some are looking to offload CFC can actually afford to let a pick 1 go now and still get the development upside it needs in the immediate years ahead even with the likes of Treloar and others coming in because others will be departing and retiring. So getting Treloar now typically would be a dumb move now however in CFC situation it actually wouldn't be so because the list development would not be compromised. For example getting Treloar now would be like us in 2004 getting Deledio and where still had plenty of room to develop our list which was not compromised and we still had plenty of opportunity to recruit great talent like Dusty down the track.

However, to chase Treloar and others you need collateral. In CFC's case it might be smarter to trade away pick 1 because Treloar is virtually a pick 1 anyway and you can get Weitering back via FA anyway which is when you team list should be arguably very strong.

The other thing is getting Treloar and other GWS players while losing others to retirement and what not means you still will be developing for a while anyway and get the draft advantage from 2016 and other years so your list is looking very healthy regardless and should prove just as strong as you gain further advantage from those development years in the next 3-4 years IMO
No one cares what you think!
