It's not totally unrealistic, but what we get for them individually might be better value. Yarran might end up netting us 12 on his own, but of course that's best case scenario. Casboult could find his way to a club who needs a forward and are willing to pay for it. Could be an early second rounder or a player who suits our needs (which is strange, since forwards are a need...)

Last hour of the last day of trade period and pick 12 for Cas and Yarran is our last option? Take it and run IMHO.
I think it's universally accepted Yarran's worth about a pick 15-20. So 12 is overs and 31 is unfair on us. Losing a first round draft pick is worst case scenario for us.

It's better for us to lose our 2nd round draft pick this year and next year. Which is what I think will actually happen, next years crop is meant to be killer and you guys would appreciate a pick 31 and possibly a pick 31-34.

No. If he universally worth pick 15 then you pay pick 12 because he is contracted and let it be.

We do the 20 to 12 upgrade and lose Yarran, I'm going to lose it. Seriously.

As for Bell and Cassy - they are worth round 2 picks on their own.
Nah, the Yarran deal looks like Yarran and #20 for #12 and #31.

The difference in quality between #12 and #20 is greater than the difference between #20 and #31. Places Yarran's value right around #18-#19.

Well he could play part of the Bell trade or come through in the PSD but I don't know why he'd call out Collingwood if he was ok going to Melbourne.

I don't really think much of him either way so I hope he ends up at the Pies (no offence) and we get Treloar :D
Realistically if Collingwood had to choose, then Treloar would be their choice.

Not sure whether Mathews threat is genuine or just gamesmanship - if they were offered a trade but rejected it and let him go to the PSD what would they gain? Why wouldn't they consider a Bell for Aish trade at least they would get to keep the draft pick needed for Bell and we get to use the #1 psd pick on someone else.

Happy with that deal if we can nab Brisbane's second round selection. Would prefer for that to be the pick Richmond get so we get the pick ahead of them rather than the other way around but its okay.

That pick #31 is going to be spent on Bailey Rice with it costing less to move up.

No, but who were they after when they tried to farm him off on us last year? Or was that one of our own forum's stupid suggestions?
I don't remember them actually doing that - correct me if I'm wrong - but I thought it was one of their posters suggesting Grimley and a pick for Yarran or some other silly thing.

I really don't think we would appreciate picks in the 30s for Yarran. It could be 5 years of an extra pick in the 30s and it still wouldn't be adequate compensation for losing a contracted player of Yarran's ability. It's only at the pointy end of the draft that real value exists to trade good players for.

Early 20s and a good player or perhaps a swap of picks like ODN suggested would be fair. Anything else is just flipping Carlton the bird.

That was what I meant but worded it poorly. Was it one of their posters or ours who raised Grimley last year? The Hawks themselves never did it. Just couldn't remember who they were chasing.

I'm pretty confident we will get a quality player via the psd, because I know how corrupt the afl is, and Carlton will be rooted to the bottom of the ladder of we don't get some assist

I understand that's what you meant. Think it was one of theirs.

It seems like an okay deal to be honest. But Bell has some upside and since he's already leaving, if we could include him in the final deal, I'd be pretty pleased. It's important for us to keep Lennon,

Bell would only leave to be near his sick father in QLD. I would be all for the trade if it meant you guys were relocating :D

Nearly there I reckon.

I had:

Carlton: Out - Bell, Casboult, #38
In from Brisbane: #21, Redden pick/Leuey compo (early 20s), #58 - Lions want Bell so it only works if we package them.

Carlton: Out - Henderson, #20
In from Geelong: #9, #28

Carlton: Out - Yarran, #21
In from Richmond: #12, #31

Carlton: Out - Redden/Leuey pick from Brisbane, #28, #31 - so 3 second rounders.
In from GWS: Tomlinson, Plowman, Steak knives

Leaving us with:

In: Tomlinson, Plowman, Lamb/Phillips/knives, #9, #12
Out: Henderson, Yarran, Bell, Casboult, #20

Draft picks: 1, 9, 12, 56, 58

Only issue here is our own f/s selections. We may well choose to deal with GWS like this:

Tomlinson, Plowman, knives, #27 for #12, Redden/Leuey pick (#22ish), #31

Leaving us with 1, 9, 27, 28, 56, 58

I like that - although i think getting 21, 22 58 for bell cas and 38 is too far in our favour. bell is worth about 30 i think, and casboult 25. Also i don't think 27 and 28 helps us much with the father sons as rice is expected to get a big from 25 to 30 and SOSOS a bit later. maybe this could work:

henderson, 20, 38 for 9, 28, 46 and josh walker (i think we will get him if we trade casboult)

bell cas 28 for 21 22 and 58

yaz and 21 for 12 and 31

leaving us with 1, 9, 12 22 , 31, 46, 56, 58

trade 12, 22 and 56 for tomlinson, plowman, sumner phillips lamb and 27 and 46

end up going to the draft with: 1,9, 27, 31, 45, 46, 57, 74

potentially package 27 and 31 to upgrade higher, maybe 9 and 31 for gws pick 7 from collingwood

pick 1, 7, 27, 45, 46, 57, 74

not worried if we dont get carlisle treloar or aish. plowman tomlinson would do me. trade out casboult bell yarran henderson for good picks. get weitering at 1, rice & silvangi and we are on the right track. get another 5-6 gun kids through the draft and we will have early picks again next year. id look at a mitch brown through psd if others arent available

I said earlier today I would consider #1 and #20 for Treloar, McCarthy, Tomlinson and Plowman. That was before the "possibility" of Treloar in the PSD.

Tomlinson, Plowman, Sumner and Philips for some second rd selections/compo for Yarran and Henderson, then select Weitering with #1 and score Treloar in the PSD. I think we would DESTROY our trading relationship with the GWS but it would be one hell of an off season !!!!!!!!!!

Negligible difference - 4 spot upgrade on your Cas value, 8 spot upgrade on your Bell value in exchange for a 20 spot downgrade on 38.

We'd be getting in 1893 points on the AFL system and trading out 1850 points.
