Sos and Dodoro were trying to work out a deal where we receive their picks 4 and 5 for our pick 1. Dodoro wanted our second pick as well but Sos only offered our third.
Dodoro said no deal.
Well, I know absolutly nothing about Weitering, nor who would be around at 4 and 5, but statistically, this sounds like a good deal for Carlton. I guess the knock might be that Weitering (again, just what I have read), is a clear number 1 and considerably above others in the draft but it seems that to drop 3 places and get an extra pick, we surely would think long and hard about that. Trading pick 1 is a pretty massive call for a rebuilding club but getting two picks in the top 5 is a pretty amazing place to start a rebuild.

Agree on Aish but there is something fishy with the Lennon situation. And we must have serious $ left in salary cap.

Warnock was on massive bucks (comedy from Carlton), Carrots was a top 3 player when he last re-signed and on very good $. Judd, Henderson, Yarran! That's a few million right there
Just don't get a good vibe around Lennon somehow.

Very happy with acquiring Plowman and Tomlinson should those deals come about (and they will) but Lennon?
Just not feeling the thrill about him but I don't know why.......sort of a Carlisle feel where if we get him for unders then fine....but not to go out on a limb.

No reflection on Lennon here but given that we're building from the ground up, we don't want any pollutants amongst our younger guys.
Need Cripps, Docherty, Weitering, Byrne, Graham, Buckley and co. to bring all the young guys along with them with their leadership now.

First round picks next year will be like gold if the crop of kids are as good as everyone says. Puts us in a strong position to trade for some quality as well.
I wonder really how accurate people are when they say that this year is "shallow" and next year is great. There is not doubt that statistically some years are better than others, but given how hard it seems to be to successfully choose a draft pick in the current year, I wonder if it is possible to say anything about the quality of a future draft with any real certainty.

No one wants us.

Surely Levi and Bell for Mayes is absolute overs for us to give. I like Mayes but way overs.
Well, I'm happy to say that isn't exactly true. I thought it may have been at certain points in time this year but we have worked hard.

Bell is gone whichever way and we all love Levi, but Mayes is class and........our guys for all their efforts aren't, nor would they really help us going forward.
I'm fine with keeping Bell & Casboult should it somehow play out that way because they genuinely care but class is class and we'll need to build on that young core of quality players, up.

Play it out over a several year program and it's not hard to see which path we have to take.

Not sure I see Lennon as a pollutant. Perhaps I am just buying the shit that people are selling me but sounds like he was a crazy Carlton supporter, had the massive misfortune to be drafted by a bunch of [Insert Expletive]'s, did his time and now want to move to his first love. Since he plays for a bunch of [Insert Expletive]'s, he has no issue walking out on them and going into PSD. This sounds like the kind of charater that we want at our club.

No, I'm just thinking next year, as per Henderson.

I think we'd happily accept Richmond's first rounder for next year if push came to shove. Whether we had to use it this year though...............
Yeah I mentioned this last night. I think it's a great move to target their first round pick for next year.

1. They are supposed to feel like they will improve on this year, especially with the acquisition of Yarran.
2. This would then (logically speaking) mean that they should end up with a pick between #15-#18 next year.
3. This is the value that they rate him.

It's win-win. We get 3 first round picks next year and they get their man for the price that they 'rate' him.

Now, if things go pear shaped for them and they finish lower for some reason, they have no one to blame but themselves and I'll be the last one to feel sorry for them. In fact, I'll be glad.

Update:

Henderson for a first rounder......................Tick :)
Yarran for a first rounder............................TBC, but all the more possible now.
Casboult & Bell for Mayes............................TBC, but I wouldn't bet on it.
Kerridge for a mid to late second rounder....TBC
Anderson for a #20 odd..............................TBC
Plowman++ for a #20...............................TBC
Tomlinson for a ?????................................TBC
Surprise get at the trade table....................TBC
PSD fall out................................................TBC

Early days but............................so far, so good.

But just so u know as I stated earlier. I made that up as it's the only thing I could think of why Sos would be meeting Dodo bird. But would love if the club were thinking along those lines.

Ah but do they back themselves...to finish high?

Could bomb out and we net a nice high pick. They're gutless

I feel that way about Aish actually, although its a bit unfair to describe either young lad as pollutants.

No 'somehow' about it Harks. 2nd year HFF, achieved approximately nothing, apparently keen enough in Richmond to get a bloody big tiger tattoo, and then what... he gets dropped for a final, and cracks the sads? Reeks of entitlement from this vantage point. Even if it's some other reason, we don't need young players on unjustified $$$ ******* up the TPP. We (tentatively) won't be fooled again on that front.

Going by SOS's interview on the trade wrap I'm not that confident we will be keeping the future pick we got from Geelong. I'm hoping like mad we save it and use it next year in the stronger draft.
But he seems like he wants to trade it for a younger player by the sounds of it.

I must admit I have gone off Lennon the more I hear about him

Think pretty much all the deals that have gone down the last few days have benefited us in one way or another.
Bennell trade means Freo probably can't get McCarthy meaning Tomlinson is easier to get from GWS.
Simpson going to GWS puts Philips down the pecking order. Plus Rice nominating Saints means we can use that pick along with Bell to potentially get 17 of Brisbane or send to Crows for Kerridge

Haha. I was just having a stab in the dark like everyone else on here. But it's funny how quickly some people believe something because it's posted on here.
I'm stumped trying to think who we would be after from Essendon or vice versa. The only thing I could think of was that. To tell you the truth I wouldn't be too disappointed to swap pick one for two top five picks. But that could only work if they did get pick 5 from the saints.
Would u not take Francis and say Curnow over Weitering ? I'd certainly entertain it.
Fair point mate and i see the merit in what your saying but id hate to spend the next 12 years watching Weitering and thinking "what if"... having said that, ive seen a bit of Francis and if we had pick 2 id take him in a heartbeat!
