I am not buying how cheap Bell and Casboult might go for...in fact I am not buying Casboult leaving at all...unless someone is wanting to pay him massive overs - why would he choose to leave? which begs the question - what is massive overs for Levi? and what pick does that equate to? Massive overs in salary is not a pick in the 30's....

Getting fairly excited about the look of our 22 next year. Would like to see something like this

FB: Buckley - Jammo - Weitering
HB: 2E - Plowman - Simmo
C: Doc - Gibbs - Boekhurst
HF: Walker - Casboult - Armfield
FF: Menzel - Tomilson - Everitt
FOL: Kreuz - Cripps - Murphy
I/C: Graham - Curnow - Holman - Thomas

Still a bit to much age in there with Walker ,Jammo ,Simmo ,Murphy, Thomas and Army all being over 28 and 2E,Gibbs,Casboult,Curnow,Gibbs and Kreuz being 26/27.
Looking at the age profile of that 22 it really shows we are missing players in that 23/24/25 gap.
Would like to see the to Irish boys in there and Walsh to have somewhat of a break out year

Think pretty much all the deals that have gone down the last few days have benefited us in one way or another.
Bennell trade means Freo probably can't get McCarthy meaning Tomlinson is easier to get from GWS.
Simpson going to GWS puts Philips down the pecking order. Plus Rice nominating Saints means we can use that pick along with Bell to potentially get 17 of Brisbane or send to Crows for Adelaide
I know the city of Adelaide is pretty dull and boring, but surely the whole city is worth more than pick 38!!! Might have to send Liam Jones as a sweetener!!!

That team does nothing for my arousal levels.

I know this is a little off topic, but just regarding that 22 you put up: I know the team comes before the individual, but I think it's time we released Simpson from that back line, maybe on a wing or high HF/on ball... A. His class and finishing would be better for us forward of centre and B. The poor guy just keeps getting his head caved in back there, his courage combined with all the work he's required to do back there must be taking its toll. I think he needs to be rewarded/unshackled so he can play with some freedom. Just a thought.

Where we the first Club to score a 2016 (next year's) first rounder?
Kinda sets a precedent doesn't it ? - A kind of benchmark or standard trade ;)I mean most would agree that Yarran>Henderson or at least equal to...Henderson is no monster KPP so forget that argument...Yarran is a sook - who would be dynamite if supported y a proper fast spreading midfield - giving him options...It suits opposition to talk down a players ability and fit and talk up the same player's shortcomings..as if we are selling 'short comings'...makes me laugh Yarran is a first rounder for sure OR not worth trading.

Yeah I mentioned this last night. I think it's a great move to target their first round pick for next year.

1. They are supposed to feel like they will improve on this year, especially with the acquisition of Yarran.
2. This would then (logically speaking) mean that they should end up with a pick between #15-#18 next year.
3. This is the value that they rate him.

It's win-win. We get 3 first round picks next year and they get their man for the price that they 'rate' him.

Now, if things go pear shaped for them and they finish lower for some reason, they have no one to blame but themselves and I'll be the last one to feel sorry for them. In fact, I'll be glad.
Shouldn't we always assume that Richmond's pick in the following year will be pick 10? :)

Jake Niall's article on the Hendo trade stated that we're the only club that hasn't traded for (and kept) for an extra first round draft pick since 2000.

Now, I'm no big fancy country lawyer, but that damning stat is a big factor into our current club's malaise. Admittedly the salary cap sanctions hurt, but it does show much trading for top ups/recycled players for a consistently long time hurts a club years down the track and why I think North will be in strife for another couple of years.

Can't afford to trade away next year's Hendo pick, we need to bank it and spend it on a quality kid from the draft.

Context, DVB. For the best part of 15 years we've had no suitable assets to trade. Sure, we failed to cash in on Russell and T Bird when we had the chance but it wouldn't have mattered anyway with the headless chooks running the recruiting department.

2016 draft is going to be very interesting for CFC.. especially if we get the tigers first round pick next year for Yarran..

If we go as poor as i predict in 2016, i would think the AFL will have no option but to give us a priority pick.

So will potentially end up with
Pick 1 finish last,
Pick 2 (priority)
Pick 12 (richmond pick for yarran)
Pick 15 (Geelongs pick for Henderson)

What that does do is put is in a great position to target any player we want with multiple first round picks to trade.

The AFL will never give another team a priority pick, never again, never.... ever.

No way the AFL gives us a priority pick if we already have 3 first round picks.

Or better yet, use the picks in the draft and rebuild properly, no more recycled players

We've copped the rough end of the pineapple that's for sure, especially when we've bottomed out in a year that has reportedly has the worst draft in more than a decade, according to a few experts like Buckenera.

We are hurting now because she didn't any access to quality kids during the expansion club drafts, and many other clubs are in the same boat.

I want to us to try have at least two picks in the first round from 2016 - 2022 (ish).

I fully support their decision to try load up on surplus stock from The GWS larder, cause this draft is awfully shallow, but we don't want to keep doing that.

Wow that's interesting but thinking about it we've always been a club who hangs on to players, adding top ups and maxing out the salary cap, to our detriment. Hence this idea that Carlton have never really grasp the concept of the draft. I think it's time we did.

Who misses out if we trade in any of Lennon/Mayes/Aish/any other small we're linked to? I'd guess it'd be out of Armfield, Curnow, Holman, Boek and Graham. Better not be Graham though.

I agree with you, however we need to be careful not to over compensate. What's happened has happened, we can learn from it but we can't just get rid of chore players to grab any kid that's available. It's time to change our ways, yes, but we must be smart about it.
