Would be a positive headline...

"Blues Send Warnock Away for Nothing".

Carlton today made another move to improve their list for 2016 and beyond by trading Robert Warnock for absolutely nothing.

"We really feel nothing has the upside and ability to contribute consistently that we need," Andrew McKay said.

Statistically Warnock and nothing are very similar, with Warnock holding a significant lead in hitouts but otherwise the two are all but indistinguishable. Factoring in the difference in salary between Warnock and nothing, the move makes total sense from the Blues' point of view.

Incoming coach Brendon Bolton also endorsed the move.

"I'm just getting to know all the guys, but I do have ideas and impressions formed from afar, and in my view I'd be more excited about working with nothing than Warnock."

Etc.

We need 3-4 picks in the first round, it is not good enough to wait to get into the first round of future drafts due to projected strength.

The next 3 drafts we need to get at least 7 first rounders to be a serious shot at 2018 and beyond.

So we shouldn't wait for future drafts...but we need to get into the next three drafts..?

Currency is limited, interest in our players is limited - if we can get a first rounder next year for each of Hendo and Yarran, it's better than a second rounder and change this year.

in the Northern Blues....
Realistically, he should be delisted. Was horrendous this year.
Well, he wasn't horrendous every game, but that's the odd thing about him.

Some games he really lifts and does a huge job, defending well and taking intercepting marks. Other games he seems completely unco and all over the joint.

I'm hoping that the yarran trade doesn't happen and we keep him and draft lemon in the pre season draft. Yarran has a massive year under Bolton and wins our B&f and signs on mid year and lemon kicks 40 goals and Richmond finishes 9th
As if Crippa won't go back to back

Agree T.

I don't think Rowe is useless, but he did have some absolute stinkers this year.

Anyone got any thoughts on any patterns to explain the inconsistency? Was it injury, did he struggle against a particular kind of opponent or opposition gameplan. Or ours?

What can we do to maximise the good Rowe and limit the bad Rowe?

If I was to offer a brutal assessment of our list and players who I think aren't up to AFL scratch:

Sam Rowe
Liam Jones
Dennis Armfield
Jason Tutt
Robert Warnock
Simon White
Tom Fields

By not up to "scratch" I basically mean that they aren't going to be anything more than a bottom 2-3 player in a 22 for a competitive AFL side.

Their problems are varied, but generally you could summarise them as lacking strong disposal skills, several without intensity and others without composure.

Of the group Simon White and Armfield are the hardest done by
