I think we need to view the GWS boys as an "extension" of the draft. In the draft one pick equals one player. If we can get 4-5 young players from GWS in exchange for a couple of picks only, that's a good result for mine... Or is that too simplistic?
No it's good and you 'get it'

this is what i think we should try make happen from here:

yarran and 60 for 19 and 52

Menzel and 19 for 13, 28 and kerridge

28 for GWS4 (this is apparently what sos rates the value at)

20 and 21 52 for 8 and 48

end up with:

1,8,13 plus 48 and 59 for SOS2

we lose hendo, yarran menzel and bell but end up with

plowman, phillips kerridge sumner and lamb all for menzel. if 2 of those go on the become long term best 22 then we win...

plus rebuild starts with 1, 8, 13 and 2016 1st rounder from geelong.

its a start for us

Can someone explain why GWS would give us pick 8 for picks 20 21 & 28?

Is it related to points or is this a thankyou cause sos will take 4 of there reserves players?
GWS have a few early academy kids so they would care about points more than the number. As long as the excess points justified to them that they should help us out. There would have to be players involved too so the afl agreed because they've picks traded needed to be comparable in points value

Think we're too quick to dismiss the quality of player coming in through trade, and I guess this understandable given recent history. I got a little curious and looked up a few YouTube videos on sumner and I instantly wanted him at the club.. His interview shows a drive for improvement and I reckon he's got heart.. His highlights package from draft year ain't too shabby either. Can fo shizz caress a pig skin.
This... too many people are calling them "reserves players"... well guess what... in a NEAFL match this year, GWS played guys who were taken with picks between #1 and #7.

Are they dud picks as well? Are they reserves players because they can't be slotted into the GWS senior side? Or were they picked up because every list manager knows that at some point in the future, you have to trade players for picks and having a shitload of currency means that you can generally get better picks.

SOS knows the guys who he is planning on grabbing so I am going to trust SOS's judgement on this... after all, he was involved in their recruiting to GWS.

Old Dark Navy's already explained to me that GWS already have enough picks to cover the points needed for their academy picks. They will use pick #8 in this year's draft.

Nope... they can GAGF'd... pick 12 or nothing. We don't have to sell him.
Gee I wish you were the Blues and I was the Tiges list manager.
My simple response would be:

Ok then, see ya !!!
We'll just have a crack next year when he is a free agent.

To the draft we go with 12 and 19.

If they are playing in reserves then they are reserves players until they establish themselves as league players.

Lamb and Phillips are not exciting at all.
Would happily take just Plowman

And we get a compensation pick that is equal to what your offering. Id rather dick your team over then get bent over just to do a deal.

There's no way to know yet how many points GWS will need. The bidding hasn't actually started. Apparently they have 2 that might get bidded on in the first 5 picks....

You think any other player is going to want to go to Richmond if they don't do the deal this week? When other players see Yarran have to come back to Carlton with his tail between his legs, they're going to say "I'm never letting that happen to me".
