This is an absolutely outstanding result for us. I can understand supporters being upset about this, I love Menzel as much as anyone but he doesn't defend that well and only averages 8 touches. I'd love to keep him but if we can bring in 5 good young players in that's a great result. Kerridge and Plowman can both seriously play, I have no question about that. Phillips is ok and allows us to delist Warnock, great result. Lamb I always liked and I think he could do what Menzel was doing for us but Sumner I like, genuine x factor, just needs to get his body right. That means we go to the draft with 1, 19?, 20, 21.... which could allow us to trade up to 8. This is such a bloody good result and I won't hear otherwise, potentially9-10 kids in with a brand new coach, that is how you rebuild! If you want a laugh, go on our Facebook page and look at what supporters are writing in, hilarious...
Sounds like Ed Curnow. Yuk.

Hey guys. What are your thoughts on this trade.

edited: 8 + Sumner + Phillips + Plowman for 20 + 21 + 59 + 60

sorry. got it wrong. fixed it though
No... we would need pick 28 for something like that... and either pick 12 or 19 to get Tomlinson :D and we need 59 and 60 for SOSOS

Mick didnt trade Laidler. He delisted him and we got nothing in return. Again.
It was bizarre how we did that multiple times. Melbourne were actually being nice for giving us 61 for Garlett. Robbo would have got us a lot more than what we got, which was nothing. Anyway, past is the past, I don't think we would go about things the same way now.

Any possibility that SOS is trying to extract pick 13 in possible Menzel/Kerridge trade?
Or is pick # 13 non-negotiable?

Carlton out - Menzel, 2 rd/3 rd pick ('16) - in - Pick 13, Kerridge
Adelaide out - pick 13, Kerridge in - Menzel, CFC's 2 rd /3 rd pick ('16)
I guess it is possible , just seeing a lot of sources saying Menzel for Kerridge plus pick 28. They all seem to be confident that is the deal.

Post of the Year.
Good to see someone who knows the GWS kids and knows Menzel has deficiencies

Yep all those reserves players are just waiting to get to Carlton then they will start to show something...crazy me thinking that trading one of most talented players for a group of fringe types was a bad idea

Now been reading that too.
Does pick 28 on its own get the GWSx4 deal done?
See that Menzel has had recent hip surgery.
Is his durability now really concerning SOS & co?
Maybe the powers that be just want to offload while he still has some currency.

He has more currency than Kerridge and Pick #28. We should be targeting Pick #13 or he's not on offer.

According to Gleeson, Quayle and Niall at the age, Carlton came to us offering Menzel for Kerridge and 28 which seems... bizarre. But anyway.

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/adelai...for-carltons-troy-menzel-20151020-gkdpn9.html

Lots of Crows fans pumping tyres for Kerridge, so I'll give you the other, more rooted in reality side of the story; when he wasn't injured this year, the reason he wasn't getting a game for us is because he was only half arsing it in the SANFL quite a bit, not putting in the sort of effort you need to put in at the reserves level to force AFL selection. He's not a bad player, but he's not a great player either - his greatest weapon is his endurance, which has made him a decent tagger, but otherwise he's not really exceptional at anything. Not a clarance machine, not fast, average kick out to 50m, decent mark, decent set shot, but can work hard when he wants to work hard. Nathan van Berlo mk 2, but without the leadership qualities.

e: not that I think Kerridge is a bad player, he has 150-200 game workman written all over him, I just think he's a bit of a vanilla player, and we have too many of those on our list, which is why I'm happy for us to trade him while he has some value.
Great :(....just make it pick 13 then, no Kerridge. We have enough of those types, Curnow, Graham. Holman, Whiley, Sumner, Lamb...don't need another one.

The GWS4 was for a draft pick , 28 sounds about right. I read that pick 20 would be used for Tomlinson (yet another GWS player).

Quite amazed by the Menzel trade and even moreso if we have suggested it. Just seems to be way unders from my view, not sure what Carlton are aware of that would see them thinking the proposed deal is reasonable.

kerridge can play but he's not anything special. troy menzel has genuine chad wingard x factor about him, of course he has some deficiencies but when your list is so devoid of talent (seriously like historically possibly the least talented list in AFL history) you don't get rid of a player like that. i don't see why pick 28 is necessary to land those 4 GWS superstars.

Would rather see Carlton Trade

Pick 21 to GWS for the awesome foursome
Pick 20 to GWS for Big Tomlinson
Future 3rd pick to Adelaide for Kerridge

Keep Menzel he has a lot of class and has the potential to push into the midfield.

Agree. Mentioned pick #13 for Menzel n a former post.
Plus offering our 2016 rd 2, or rd 3 pick in exchange for Kerridge.
Responding to AceAndy's comment, plus above posted media report/quotes re. pick #28 being mooted as part of trade.
Didn't Menzel have his medical in Adelaide today?

I can't understand how Lamb, Phillips and Sumner is worth anything more than a fourth or fifth round pick.
why would pick 10 (sumner) from the national draft 2-3 years ago be only worth a fourth or 5th round? Even Toumpas got the dees a second round pick and Freeman from the pies to the saints got a second rounder

How many senior games has he managed to play in the 2-3 years ?
