Am I right that as it stands, it's something like this?

We lose: Hendo, Bell, Yarran, Menzel, pick 41, junk picks
We gain: Plowman, Kerridge, Lamb, Sumner, Phillips
We add picks: 8, 12/19, 21, 60

Out: 4 x best 22 players - 3 of which arguably had questionable attitudes
In: A couple of possible best 22 (LP, SK), one very shiny pick, a couple of quite shiny picks and a set of steak knives

I think we could see a Yazz pick, 20 & 21 for Tomlinson and 7. Which would make it

We lose: Hendo, Bell, Yarran, Menzel, pick 20, pick 41, junk picks
We gain: Tomlinson, Plowman, Kerridge, Lamb, Sumner, Phillips
We add picks: 7, & 8, 60

Out: 4 x best 22 players - 3 of which arguably had questionable attitudes, pick 20
In: One definite best 22 (AT), a couple of possible best 22 (LP, SK), two very shiny picks and a set of steak knives

Would prefer scenario 2, but happy with scenario 1.

All four players on the way out had issues. Hendo declared he wanted out, out of contract and nominated Geelong. Yarran had a crap year and nominated Richmond. Bell was contracted but understandably nominated Brisbane and Menzel contracted but question marks (and rumours) remain. I think we have done VERY well out of this off season*.

*this is where someone tells me I am missing something in my analysis

I think GWS will trade pick 7 from the pies to us for 20 and 21. That will give them an extra 146 points. That will leave us with pick 1,7,8 and 12 when the Tigers fold and bring in SOS jr as well. If that happened SOS has done an amazing job.

I have no idea how we are going to line up round one but could it look something like this;

2e - Jamo - Plowman
Doc - Weitering - Bucks
Boek - Murphy - Simmo
Sumner - Tommo - Daisy
Everitt - Cas - Walker
Kreuzer - Cripps - Gibbs

Lamb/Graham/Kerridge/Byrne

Probably missing people here but for once we look like we have depth with Jaksch, Holman, Whiley, Sheehan, Armfield, White etc.

I'm all for stack
Could be a reason for that... ;)

Cheer up man, it's good times for Carlton right now. Even if a couple of our recruits don't come on, we've shown a massive change in our approach to trading.

Everything this year has been on our terms.

Hendo - first rounder - got it.
Bell - early second - got it.
Yarran - first rounder - refused lower offers.

Menzel may look like unders, but we appear to have actively sought that trade to obtain key pieces in the GWS deal.

Forget Lamb, forget Phillips. Carlton are now trading for Carlton, rather than being dictated to by flaky players and arrogant list managers.
I'm all for stockpiling the draft picks I think we did very well there. Looking forward to draft night.

I just think people get very optimistic about certain players we are bringing in. They go from list cloggers to Future champs in a day!

Surely a fit, motivated and rejuvenated Menzal is worth more to us than pick 21... Anyway, all done now, onward and upward.
That's like saying if Menzel played like Gary Ablett he'd be worth 5 first round picks.

Menzels effort in 2015 vs reward has been abysmal but not unexpected given the level of effort not applied. He is vastly over rated even now that he's gone. Over the course of the year the loyalists were finally clueing in that this young player wasn't doing much to deserve a spot on the field.

His one and only highlight was that goal for the win against West Coast. The rest has been average to invisible.

Kerridge may not turn out to be a win. Im fine with the trade plus the GWS players because if even one turns out to be very good, then it's more than what we were getting with Menzel.

Good luck to him at Adelaide and I hope he finds the magic spark that justifies the level of hype around him.

They don't want an extra 126 points. That's near on useless for them, it's just giving us a(nother) leg up for no reason.

19 (Yarran), 20 and 21 are worth 2738. Pick 7 (1644) and Tomlinson....that is something they'd have to at least consider

Plowman was rated in the top 3 in the country a couple of years ago, Sumner top 10. There's obviously something there to work with, and we've overhauled our coaching team to focus on guys with extensive developmental experience.

I don't think anybody is saying we just picked up the next Rance, Wingard, Gunston and Goldstein. But we don't need to have the equivalent of those 4 to have won this trade.

Not saying you're wrong, some of these players may not work out. Just saying we need to put into perspective what we've given up - a talented player who has struggled with injury and shown very little at AFL level.

For Adelaide it was Menzel for Kerridge and 28. For Carlton it was Menzel for Kerridge and 21. If we didn't get 28, 21 would go to GWS and be on traded to Collingwood in the Treloar deal.

Is Kerridge and 21 worth a first rounder? Probably. I think we also knew that Menzel was a strong candidate to leave next year. Heart wasn't in it this year and he may have damaged his value further if he repeated 2015.

Carlton getting rid of every player that half assed it this year and getting good value for them. Amazing.
I wonder if Rodgers could have pulled off something like what SOS did today. I wonder!:straining:

They've been very good to deal with thus far. There's nothing to suggest they won't consider a fair offer for Tomlinson.

Are the GWS4 and Kerridge good kicks?
Kedge has been given a lot of run-with roles so hasn't really been given chance to show off his skills but appears polished inside 50 and is talk he is a decent kick.
Plowman I believe does have a good kick, but his other traits are more of a highlight.
Lamb I believe does/did but again... opportunity etc
Doesn't matter for Sauce necessarily.
