For the first time in my life as a Carlton supporter we are embracing the system and understanding what is needed to rebuild the list. There will be plenty of pain to come in the next 2 years but this is the beginning of a true list rebuild. Currently we have picked up a swag of kids and now have picks 1 and 8 in the top 10.

Very unCarlton but I like it!!!!!!

At the moment, pick 59 and 60 will get us enough points to match any bid after pick 41. Another pick can't hurt, but unless someone bids in the 2nd round we're not going to have a big enough deficit to effect us next year.
As I said - the deficit is applied to the round the bid came in. So if someone bids in the second round, we match, then carry over points that reduce our 2nd round pick next year.

Hypothetical:

Someone bids on SOSOS at 30 (629 points).
Discount reduces that to 432 points.
59 + 60 = 304 points.
128 points is taken off our 2016 2nd rounder - Pick 19 becomes Pick 23.

If we're trading 20 + 21 for 10, we may as well ask for another late pick to come our way. Anything after Pick 43 still puts GWS ahead. I'm sure they'll be happy to send one of 64/65/66 back our way as they'd still be 300+ points better off.

Is it absolutely necessary? Probably not. But it doesn't cost us anything to ask the question.

Morrish medallist winner Clayton Oliver.
Oliver is a unique prospect in this year's draft. The Morrish medallist is a tough and brutal midfielder who enjoys the harder elements of the game. But he also has some flair, enjoying going forward, taking overhead grabs and kicking a goal. In the final round of the home and away season, Oliver, who missed out on Vic Country's final championship squad, gathered 27 disposals and kicked six goals in a dynamic showing. There is plenty of development left in Oliver, who registered a 2.99-second 20-metre sprint time last week and was third overall in his agility run (8.11 seconds).

pick 19 (yarran), 20 and 21 for 10, tomlinson 2016 second rounder and 48?
I think after what's happened today, we're way in front, I don't reckon we need to be too greedy now, if we can get Tomlinson we should grab him and run! An extra pick would be nice, but Tomlinson on his own would be massive with what we've done so far.
