37 contracted players. 1 uncontracted player.

Picks 9 & 13 to be used in National Draft.

Pick 71 will upgrade a rookie (and fulfil our obligations)

Will have 2 (or 3 if Keenan goes too) rookie picks.
Ignoring Rookies, does that mean we need to shed Wright + 1 to fit in both 9 & 13? Any rookie upgrades would then require another delisting?

Yes. It's completely obvious he will be delisted now considering we need the three picks in the draft.
Delisting Wright does not give us 3 live picks. The three live picks line was always a furphy, 9 and 13 were always going to be our only live selections.

Yeah but we'll upgrade a rookie which is what I meant by need three picks.

We also need three selections by the AFL rules. Not sure what you mean. There is not enough list space and Wright has to go bye bye.

If we also upgrade a rookie, does that not mean Wright + 2 need to go. If that's right would it be a VB retirement? Bacon8 are the sums right?

There's currently 38 players on the list (including Wright). The list is a maximum of 40. Wright get's delisted leaving 37. We use the three picks and it's 40.

Reid just then on 5AA didn't rule out delisting more than one and having less than 40 on the list.

38 is the minimum, but 40 is the norm (and max)
So basically Wright must be delisted but we could pick him up again with our 4th rounder and leave the rookies where they are. But a delisting is required to make up the 3 draft incomings. Is that about it?

Is it still a month to the draft? Far out ...
List Lodgement 1 next Friday.

AFL Delisted Free Agency Period 1 starts on Saturday next week.

It's 24 days until the CAS hearing of WADA's appeal :)

There's lots going on before Draft night. :)

I believe so. I'm not sure if there is a standard contract for all players selected in the national draft, or if it works on a staggered scale depending on where you're picked.

AFL clubs have been shown the new software that they will use for the first time on this year's dramatically revamped national draft night.

Recruiting and list managers were introduced to the software on Monday and will now take it away and experiment with it so that any flaws are identified well before the draft.

The software has been developed by Champion Data and the AFL over several months, to complement the new points-based bidding system for father-son and academy players.

It makes automatic calculations about how matching a bid for one or more of its players will affect a club's remaining picks and points deficit.

On draft night, clubs will no longer sit in the main telecast room, the camera moving from table to table as the recruiting managers make their selections.

Instead, they will be set up in a separate room, with their selections announced on stage after they are submitted electronically using the new software.

************

Oh, i soooooo want to call it early - software fail on draft night!

Can someone lend Norf a Commodore 64 so they can pretend?
