I believe so. I'm not sure if there is a standard contract for all players selected in the national draft, or if it works on a staggered scale depending on where you're picked.

Staggered base rate.

Jeez that looks like nothing compared to the NBA. The number 1 pick gets more than that a week.

The #1 pick in the AFL gets a $10,000 payment from the AFL (so assumed outside the TPP) for promotional work.

Their 2nd year of this contract will be about $2K extra.

Rookie contract for 2016 is base $57,100 (for those not playing games)

It's a great amount of cash in the general scheme of things. But the number 1 pick in the NBA earns $91,403US a week from their base contract. Just crazy stuff. Imagine the problems we'd see with our young footy players if they were earning that kind of money.

so that counts for exisitng rookies on extended contracts?

The CBA only dictates the payments for the first 2 years (and it's then minimum wage from then on)

So, Jake Kelly going into 2016 (year 3) could have negotiated more money than this, or been happy to take the same he'd been earning in 2015.

Adelaide will have two ‘live’ picks at the November 24 AFL National Draft after submitting its first list lodgement with the AFL.

The Crows have made seven changes to their senior list and secured four players through the Trade Period.

Upgrading Jake Kelly from the rookie list will leave Adelaide two spots to fill at the National Draft with picks No.9 and No.13.

There will also be two spots available at the November 27 Rookie Draft.

Adelaide will have two new Category B rookies next season – former Australian basketballer Hugh Greenwood and former Victorian cricketer Alex Keath.

Crows Head of Football David Noble said the Club had been proactive during the off-season.

“We went into the Trade Period and identified some areas of need,” Noble said.

“Overall we hit all of our targets and we’ve positioned ourselves strongly heading into this draft with two first round picks.

“We look at the Trade Period as a net result and we are extremely excited with the players we have brought in. We now turn our attention to picking up the best available talent at the draft.”

List Changes

In: Dean Gore (Geelong), Curtly Hampton (GWS Giants), Paul Seedsman (Collingwood), Troy Menzel (Carlton), Jake Kelly (rookie elevation)

Category B rookies: Hugh Greenwood, Alex Keath

Retained rookies: Reilly O’Brien, Keenan Ramsey

Out: Patrick Dangerfield (traded), Sam Kerridge (traded), Brent Reilly (retired), James Podsiadly (retired), Matthew Wright (delisted,) Brodie Martin (delisted), Sam Siggins (delisted), Anthony Wilson (rookie, delisted), Jack Osborn (Category B rookie, delisted)

So how many spots does that leave us on rookie list? Four spots?

Any chance they'd pick up Wright as a rookie? Or is he ineligible?

We have two senior list spots: Pick 9 and Pick 13 will use those.

We have two rookie list spots as Ramsey and O'Brien will remain on the rookie list.

We also have one remaining Cat B rookie spot which will go unused

I always thought it was 6 rookie spots. My bad. They make so many damn changes I just give up.

Some years ago you could have up to 6 rookies if you had nobody on the veterans list, but the rules have changed often since then
