Well, I've just finished watching Talking Footy on 7 and there was not one mention of Freo in the whole hour-long program. The closest they got was saying that Essendon play Freo next week. Un-flipping-believable.

Frustrates me to no end. These so called football shows spend 90% every week talking about the basket cases (Carlton, Richmond, Brisbane) and off-field football issues rather than actually appraising the teams that are performing and have a chance to contend for the flag.

Perfect example of this is Access All Areas on the Afl site. They just look at the worst parts of footy. Oh well, if it means we get to keep flying under the radar so be it.

And I could be wrong, but I think Freo was the only team not talked about. I'm fuming.
Unbelievable isn't it.....perhaps as lost deputy stated it could be that we remain "under the radar". Still hard to believe that supporters of the only undefeated club in the league have only this to take from our "no show" tonight...we will just have to win the flag!
You have got to get Foxtel, I don't know how any footy nut can get by without it.
Have it, but the wife has hijacked the TV for the grand final of MKR.....finally that show is coming to an end!

Talking Footy probably gives Freo the least airtime but Carey did call Fyfe easily the best in the comp last week.
On the Couch tonight mentioned Mundy and hopefully he can make his first AA this season. They also showed graphics on Fyfe winning 68% of 1 on 1 contests. The next best in the AFL being JJK at 48%. Dunstall said he could be the best 1 on 1 player in the modern era.
Not suprised we didn't get much airtime this week, was pretty much a nothing game against Melbourne. We get far more coverage than WCE though on most of the footy shows.

OTC is always going to get Freo mentioned a fair bit at least whilst Healy is on there.

Although to be fair. We did what everyone expected and thrashed Melbourne. Fyfe continued to do well. Our midfield continued to dominate. So there was no real news from our game. Most of the footy shows are not game review shows where they go through every game, they are after ratings and go for the sensational story. I am glad we are out of the spotlight.
Do what I do and just watch highlights or replays of our game for your footy fix!
Bigfooty should start a video channel for each clubs supporters on here. It would be more interesting for fans to upload videos of their own analysis and comment.

I do have foxtel at home but I'm in Perth at my bro's home and he doesn't.
Also, could I just have another rant about a point Tim Watson raised in the program - he brought up the idea of a 'sin bin' type of send off rule and said that all other comps around the world have it. Wayne Carey was not for it, citing a stager like Roos' Thomas could get someone sent off for no reason, and Watson said a third umpire could double-check the vision blah blah. And THEN Carey said "In the grand final where Lake got BOG (ie vs Freo), he could have got sent off for his hit on Walters that he got 4 weeks for, that he served in the next season, and Hawthorn might have lost the match if Lake had been off for 10 minutes in the last quarter".
Well, FML, I was gob-smacked that he used that as a reason for NOT sending off Lake. To me, that's the perfect reason for sending him off.

That's exactly right. It helped give me an excuse not to watch Talking Footy* knowing full well that there would be little to nothing said about us on that basis. I fully expected it.
If we had have absolutely annihilated Melbourne, record breaking 20+ goals type stuff, then it would have been sensational enough to be news or (God forbid) Melbourne upset us, I bet you it would have been right up there in the order. It's not pro/anti Freo, it's just what's sensational enough. Our weekend was just business as usual in the end, nothing of great note as far as the AFL world is concerned.
* Not that I need much of an excuse, it's a pretty ordinary program all considered.

No idea, I looked through the guide on the tv and thought it was a chance to get up early and gym! They didn't say a thing about free last week either... after a victory over the swans no less.
I just love that we have the video thread and sij1981 the genius!
