Goodes hasn't been booed since he pinched someone. He's been booed since he made a very public stand against racism.

All i'm saying is it's not uncommon to have idiots behaving shamefully at the Footy. Singling out a whole club for being racist is pretty poor too.

If you want to ban every idiot from attending the footy then attendances would drop by 50% (or more).

That's probably part of the picture. But I don't remember Dean cox being booed. Pretty similar onfiled antics.

I wouldn't say the whole club is racist. Not even all of those booing have racist motives. But it's naive to think there's not a racist element to it and that some (maybe not many) are booing him purely because of his stance against racism.

I'm not a fan of banning people in general. I'm more a fan of education.

I'm just making a point. Rival clubs have fans who abuse each other's players. It happens, it doesn't necessarily have to be based on race.

So, just a coincidence that Hawthorn were the only club who recruited no aboriginal players for 30 years (league average was 7) and then recruited 10 indigenous players in the 15 years after that? Looks like a change of recruiting policy to me.

Even Collingwood, which once had the noted racist Alan McAllister in charge of the club, recruited more.

Yeah not sure about how we can draw parallels there. Hawks fans are up and about over the last few years for obvious reasons. Swans have been one of their biggest rivals. Some of Goodes' biggest staging acts and good performances have been against the Hawks.
A better comparison would be the attention O'Loughlin got from the WC fans during their rivalry.

Does it mean that no one booing Goodes is racist? Nope. Does it mean everyone is? Clearly nope.
Like most arguments on BF, the truth is buried somewhere in the middle.

Hawthorn fans didn't boo Goodes until 2014, after his Australian of the Year award.

They didn't boo him in 2013, when he was playing with the reigning premiers. Or in the 2012 GF where he kicked a goals while playing injured.

I think you can be pretty certain why they started booing him. Very little to do with on field performances.

I dunno, it was Norfs most successful era in their miserable history. Same with the Bombers who won four flags in that period.

Not very easily. The team that recruited the most indigenous player won the 3rd most premierships of that period.

Carlton was middle of the road for recruiting and won the second most premierships.

Essendon were above average and won the 4th most premierships.

Hawthorn was the outlier.

Half the teams won zero premierships and they all had varying amounts of indigenous draftees. Pies and Hawks similar for draftees but opposite ends of the premiership spectrum.

Exactly...and if you got a correlation then what? The board that picked the players decades ago reflect on the fans in 2015? In the age of Twitter and social media the Blues board in 2015 doesn't represent it's current supporter base so why would a line of prejudice, decades ago, find anchor in contemporary fans? This. He acts like he is so perfect, and criticises everyone who is not. He is always on his high horse, and always tries to use his perceived "Good boy" image to his advantage, when reality he is a sniping dog.

A very healthy percentage of the people who boo Goodes are doing so out of casually racist perception of him being too big for his boots. People should be able to understand this, whilst acknowledging, at the same time that he is a bit dirty and a bit up himself (The later two may be the reason some have jumped on the booing bandwagon, other than regular sheep like behaviour, but it's not the root cause). Anyone who thinks this wrong, and that it's just because he is a 'dirty sniper' is either ignorant or racist themselves.

I don't dislike Adam Goodes, but I'll still call this for the crap it is.

Go to one of the tabloid newspapers and read comments where Goodes is involved in a story. A good percentage are casually racist with a fair number spouting overt racial hatred.

So Goodes is a dirty sniper. I don't like him but wouldn't boo him every game. The biggest snipet with the goody image is Luke Hodge. No one ever boos him.

And most football booing like Ballas, Harvey etc is pantomime villian booing.

There just seems something more sinister when it comes to Goodes.
