Yes the Newcastle Jets, and with scarfs...

It looks like they use "We will never surrender" like Ports "we will never give up" as well.

I wonder what other original ideas Koch has brought over from Sydney.

There you go didn't realise that. Whiney drama queens cant even come up with an original idea.

Thats a doctors/ surgeon cleshe.

True - although I'd say it's more media representation of doctor speak. From my experience they are pretty much run of the mill for the docs.

I reckon these days the issue is more to do with genetics leaving some people more susceptible.

You were going really good with it all until the Vickery over Jenkins comment.

Add to the fact he listed Shane ****ing Edwards in their "elite" midfield group. I could not think of a more mediocre midfielder currently on a list. Sure he gets a gig week in and week out and plays a role, but nothing more.

Their midfield does not bat very deep at all outside of the handful of elite players they have. The rest are inconsistent in which lies one of their bigger problems.

Funny how so many people heap shit on Richmond. Finished top 8 last two years (5th and 8th). Have beaten us 4 out of the last 5 games.

Their list is in pretty decent shape actually and on the surface looks similar to ours. They have a solid midfield led by Maric wth Cotch, Martin, Lids, and Edwards. They have a premier forward in Riewoldt and a solid #2 KPF in Vickery. They have a young All Australian key defender in Rance. They have a fantastic rebounding defender in Ellis. Only Maric and Chaplin are over 28. They also have a bunch of top 15 draft picks that are yet to really establish themselves as quality players - Corey Ellis, Ben Lennon, Nick Vlaustin and even Reece Conca (still only 22). Anthony Miles will also be a gun.

Here lies another issue and yet another reason why I think other teams will overtake them. First of all they have Riewoldt.... Thats it. Their forward line does not come close to ours, let alone the elite forward lines of the competition (in which id consider ours on the borderline of). Vickery at this point in time is not a solid KPF and has done absolutely nothing to suggest that he is. Ben Griffiths is the one to be watching here, and even then hes only just started to shine in the 2nd half of 2014 and has to continue this into future years.

Their defence is now fairly solid with the emergence of Astbury and hopefully he makes a full recovery the poor bloke. Their midfield is good, while not being great. As Ive said above, have some elite top end talent no doubt, but too many times the rest of their midfield are passengers and not contributors.

Vickery has played 87 games more than matthew smith

These arguments are so logically flawed it's not funny

No they're not, you just refuse to take on board absolutely anything that differs from the point you've picked others up on.

I can think of one on our list ;)

Edwards is listed as elite in the fwd/mid group of players as determined by Champion_Data in the prospectus. Matt Wright is only just out of the elite group, so that tells you the standard in that group. Not sure how they determine who is in which group but I'd have thought Edwards would be exclusively in the mid size fwd group.

No harm in having an average footballer in a group alongside Maric, Cotch, Lids, and Martin. Once again its funny how shit Richmond are and how strong our list is - yet they have beaten us 4 out of the last 5 times and made the finals the last two years. You just cannot make up the one eyed crap that is on this board.

Go back through the thread and have a look at Vickery and Jenkins ACTUAL production over the past two years before you claim how much better our forward line is to Richmonds. I think Tex is a better forward than Riewoldt, but Vickery and Jenkins are pretty similar.

The one area we have a massive advantage in our forwardline is with Eddie Betts being a premier small forward in the competition.

Richmond though have a big advantage in that their premier midfielders kick goals. Their top 4 mids including the average Edwards (who kicked 22 goals last year) combined for 87 goals. Our top 4 midfielders - Danger, Sloane, Thompson, Douglas kicked a massive 44 goals. Huge advantage to the tigs there.

This. Their forward movement of the ball by their midfield was much more cohesive and less error ridden allowing for more running goals to be scored and even set shots by midfielders to be taken with better link play.

Interested to read channel 9 won't go near the new TV deal preferring to concentrate on NRL.

Ratings figures back them up too - of the 5 top viewed shows of 2014 NRL took the top 3 spots with Origin games + their GF.

AFL GF was beaten out of 4th by MKR and ended up 5th.

Those ratings taken together with the alarming attendance drops last year don't put our game in great shape.

I wonder if all the dicking around by the AFL has finally caught up with it.

People are probably tiring of the same few teams competing year after year.

Sydney/Brisbane watching league pretty much exclusively means league events will dominate the top TV ratings...but how do their regular season games go?

Don't MKR also outperformed the AFL GF too.

I also wonder the constant tinkering with rules and interpretations hurts the game too

Is why the AFL is seriously considering Night GF and imo will happen sooner rather than later.
