I reckon he's been excellent. 24 disposals this year and a little under 1 goal per game. For an outside midfielder, he's also gathering over 3 clearances a game so he'd obviously be a natural if thrown under the the ruckman's feet. If Hawthorn get him, he'll probably end up becoming a perennial All Australian champion.

Mitch Clark had a lot of baggage when we opened our doors to him. Bennell could be in need of a change of environment to finally settle him down.
maybe we get him free, given we have assisted mitch

Buddy is out this week with "an ongoing mental health issue."
If he really has an ongoing mental health issue then I wish him all the best and hope he recovers soon.

But the cynical may be suspicious that this is a cover for some other 'issue' because the AFL is so opaque and of earlier rumours and incidents related to Buddy.

Sounds like a complicated situation going on; hopefully he gets the help he needs and recovers quickly.

Didn't he suffer a fit awhile ago and his housemate Wellingham called an ambulance and the Hawks? Many at the time thought/assumed it was drugs?

Drug rumours, fits, hospital visits, crashing cars, mental health issues. A lot going on there.

I'm not aware that he suffers from epilepsy.

The AFL need to wake up and admit they have a massive drug problem within the playing group. I know for a fact that the offseason has been a time for a large number of players to go off tap. We have seen one death of a player indirectly due to drug taking. Just a matter of time before there is more unless we try and find ways to combat this.

Part of the issue I think is the mind numbing monotony of being an AFL player. They have everything managed, do little in the way of outside training or education in most cases and have large amounts of cash for young guys. When the pressure valve is released in the offseason they explode..

This is me being a wowser but they really need to have them all enrolled in some sort of education and community service programme expand their perspectives.

I think you are overstating the problem though - and all signs point towards epilepsy and I don't see why it's any of our business that he announces it either. That's not to say other things arent in play.

Look, I don't know whether this latest episode with Franklin is due to drug taking. And it is perhaps unfair to link the two at this stage. But you can't help wondering. I just hope the guy is going to be ok regardless.
