Surely then you'd think seriously about Saad, proven crumber with a very good record at the highest level in a poor team. Among our big forwards he'd find more opportunity than he ever had at the Saints. Handing a lifeline to him could pay plenty, so think he's worth a slot.
Definitely, if still available for our 2Nd rookie pick I thought he would be a no brainer.

Doesn't have much footy mileage over the last couple of years yet we know enough that he can get the job done. Gregson seems to much the outside running type and Lang more high midfield to me, whereas Saad goes hard in and around packs looking to pounce, natural forward pocket.
We can only hope, but what a trade and draft if we get him in.

Yep, and as we all know, Land and Gregson are more natural Mids then forwards, and gregson is a sensational long kick, needs to be played further up the ground.

You know Saad's been through the grinder and he's still pushing his training to get picked up, I really like his attitude. He seems mentally tough as well as having that nuggetty exterior we need around the goal mouth. A big yes from me, give him a year with performance bonuses.

He's not the kind of small forward we need, he's more of a marking small forward then a crumber. I just think back to how cheap Garlett was for Melbourne last year, would have been perfect.

There were heaps of negative knocks on Total Footy when it became known Betts was leaving Carlton ( I couldn't believe)) but maybe most now think McCarthy will go from zero to hero overnight, I have my doubts!
We still need a livewire small forward, the missing ingredient.

I have my doubts that most people think that McCarthy will go from zero to hero given his injury history.

I cannot argue with that.

We really haven't had a live wire small forward since Ronny Burns have we? We use that spot/role as an entry level to blood mids , as we ten to like goal kicking mids.
Id say the additions we have now bought in mean mature mids will rest more there as well...Caddy/Selwood/Danger along with Lang and Gregson will spend time there.

To get past them this year as a goal kick FP , a player would have to be electric. Still as list choice , id not be adverse to a kid like Hisham KERBATIEH

Hisham Kerbatieh (Calder Cannons)

from the article on fox below
Although he is no guarantee to be drafted this year, Kerbatieh displayed his freakish talent in glimpses throughout the season. Spending a bit of time in both the midfield and on half-forward, Kerbatieh endured a slow start to the year before firing late. He finished the year averaging 20 disposals per game in the TAC Cup and having kicked 24 goals from 14 matches. But will his consistency to end the season be enough to earn him a place on an AFL list? His explosiveness and dynamism around the ground would appeal to clubs.

I'm telling you, Davin Ferreira is our man. Have a look at his highlights on the Draft Machine, he's listed under midfielders as a smokey. I also like Yestin Eades and Charlie Bance. I am pretty sure Bance played senior footy for Wagga as a 15/16 year old.

Ah, if only we could have both of them.

I know we have no chance at either kid but this is a fun interview about two of the gun Geelong boys.

If only we had an academy, or could rookie list them.;):D

There is something I like more about Mathieson than Parish, really think he will be a player (which probably means he will honk it up).

Fellas, more info on Eades, please. :D

Know nothing about him but hearing you guys bring him up, naturally curious.

The little speel on the AFL website said he left a 'troubled upbringing' in WA to board at St Pat's. Kicked 12 goals in 12 games for North Ballarat this year and was named in the best seven times.

He also kicked 2 goals in a game in the VFL. He's 184cm and 82kg and explosive. I'd prefer Ferreira but would be happy with Eades.

Not sure of his back ground and how he interviews... I suspect as much as anything thats important these days...but on talent he would look to be a chance.
