Some useless information but tonight I was having tea at Palm Cove QLD and a young CFC player was strolling along the esplanade, he was by himself. He must have good taste, great place for a holiday even better place to live.
Gee..I hope his dad doesn't live near there....

As far as Crisp placing well goes, I have a friend who played in the NEAFL with him. He was always a good runner, best in the side at the Lions (NEAFL side not sure how good he was compared to the AFL guys) - so I'm not at all surprised to see him place well here. Varcoe has come from the Cats, not surprised at all to see that he's fit.

Still giving Kennedy the benefit of the doubt. I've taken from watching his footy that he's very much a burst player. Kid has electric pace, that comes from entirely different muscle fibres and energy systems to an endurance run. I'd love to see his sprint times and even more accurately his repeat sprint times. Probably still not great compared to someone like Freeman who seems to have shown he's naturally gifted in both Speed and Endurance, but I'd be willing to bet Kenno's times are more impressive there.

For all we know he might have been given an entirely different training program over the Christmas break which trained his burst sprinting. There could be injury, sickness or a number of other things contributing, but I'm not counting him out yet. Kid needs time.

Hmmm, okay - there seems to be some doubt as to what I saw (and now I am doubting it as well).

Let's give Kennedy the benefit of the doubt in this instance. I will update my post.
Too late mate!

Kennedy's already been assassinated and Jack Ruby's looking for ya. ;)

Crisp is an exciting Talent but Big Thing he needs to work in is his Kicking.

You make a very good Point. He could be easily more a Burst Type player like Swan is. That he struggles with Endurance type Tests but give him a Rest and Put him in and he can do some very exciting things in times he comes on Fresh. Just like Swan use to do

PK was not beaten by sharrenberg although Sharenburg must have ran ok considering his injury. According to mate who was there PK ran with Williams and Langdon and they just beat him by 2-5 seconds. I'm telling you guys he is fitter and looking very good. I heard that there was a practice style game last day before Xmas break. The synergy and understanding between PK and Elliot got the coaches very excited. They were both in the forward line together with cloke. Their skill level and footy smarts between PK and Elliot was something to see. You guys should be excited as I have always been watching StevieJ for us

Yeh great post and smart post Ricky90.
Footy isn't a 2k time trial straight out then game over, it's a red ball being kicked around an oval and players are jogging, stop, sprint, jog, sprint, stop, walk for abit jog again and sprint so it's burst with little recovery parts when your in the jog, stop walk part when the ball isn't near you is your chance to recover when not on bench.
Being good at time trials is just a handy bonus that every footy player should try there best to improve but with midfielders being so big and bulky i don't look into it that much as like ricky90 has said different people have different muscle fibers, fast twitch and slow twitch. i would rather be gifted with skills and footy smarts than be a great 2k runner.

Well with Subs having a Limit we can not do as much Burst things as we did with Swan.

Though you can be a Good Footballer and a Average 2km Time Trialist

Spot on there. There are some freaks that have endurance and are explosive, but its rare. That's why I'm excited about Freeman. He should be scary good!

I think having a decent tank helps in modern football a lot though with all the defensive running required.

Who are the best 2 way runners for the Pies in games? -- Pendles and Sidebottom.

They are also 2 of the best performed time trial runners of the past few years.

Quick question for those who are knowledgeable on the topic. Does having a slow 2k time mean you lack endurance. You may not be fast but maybe you can keep going for hours.
I have friends who run marathons as a hobby. Generally they finish somewhere between 150-200 position. Now although they may not be finishing amongst the best I wouldn't say they lacked endurance.
