I love how grown men fail to entertain a notion that an infamously lazy footballer, at 29, is stacking on weight.

"It just doesn't happen!!!!"

Considering footballers have robbed their team mates while they're out training, that players have rocked up to training still gurning from the night before, when a Premiership winning team had its best players into meth and bikies, when an entire 100-plus-year old club made all their players use performance enhancing jokes, how is Col Sylvia putting on weight some ludicrous and impossible story?

Ross Lyon is not a miracle worker. I reckon we'll find that out this season.
Not really disagreeing with any of this but he initiated the move here with the knowledge that we're a well-run team that is built around an ethos of discipline, can't blame people for experiencing some confusion. I mean really, it doesn't add up does it? Why would he come here and then proceed to not give a shit when he could have stayed at Melbourne, in his home state, stayed on similar coin and actually gotten regular games. Clean slate and all that for this year but it isn't promising. Who knows, maybe there is some Allen Christensen-esque dramas behind this whole thing.

Can confirm about Sylvia putting weight on over Christmas. Ross is not happy. Negative about Morras knee being worse than first thought, just playing it safe.
Just to be all diplomatic but how can you "confirm" that? Short of kidnapping him and chucking him on your bathroom scales how could you know? Ross told you directly I'm guessing? Any chance you could paraphrase a bit? Is this too many consecutive questions?

Yesterday there were a few, not much really happens on Tuesdays though. I do appreciate your obvious disdain for the off-topic shite though :thumbsu:

When we get the reports tomorrow I may tidy it up a little, I strongly recommend the hashtag filter though.

If you follow the hashtag #ffcpreseason and unwatch the thread you'll only be alerted whenever a report is posted, really is the way to go.
Thanks mate, was a not so subtle *throat clear* I've been in London too long.

I would have thought that just about anyone at the club would have access to skin folds or weight data. I can name the three people I know from the club if that makes you feel better? Or that Suma is best mates with my Neighbour.

Nah, I'm satisfied. Hate to say but I've become a bit apathetic over Col- Fred might want more concrete stuff though. Maybe I should have said "directly confirm" too. I do admire Fred's cojones (no homo) though, Danyle Pearce and Colin Sylvia are two nightmare buddies for this board. Maybe he's just a hipster.

Also, training reports are good and stuff. I know I'm setting a terrible example here :p

I reckon we'll get there eventually even if we have to bloody edit every report to include them, lol. Nobody can be buggered with the random chat thread so off-topic nonsense kinda grows here organically given it's the one thread we have with regular traffic year round.

Speaking of (seeing the players) I was going to head down to training and take some fresh photos of the boys - when would be best? Fri? Mon?

Salim is a good guy - have a lot of respect for him. Not so much for the people that enjoy every opportunity to cut a player down and gloat
When taking photos on Friday please don't go home and photoshop Colin's waistline. I couldn't handle another Sylvia meltdown.

Of the players training or photos with the players? If you just want to take photos of training then any of the 3 main sessions should be fine. Photos with the players is more tricky as you have to get them when they get off the track and not all of them come through the door nearest to where they rope off or stop to sign autographs. If that was your intention then Monday would have been a good time for that as most of the players (including Pav who is notoriously elusive and Ross) where signing autographs and taking photos with training watchers.

Shit gaskin, after the last few pages this almost feels worthy of a hashtag, closest thing we've seen to a genuine report.

Monday I couldn't make, will have to take what I can get. Working from home a bit more this year so I can ride the pushie down to training in between meetings.

Looking at photos of the players - I usually grab a set every season during the pre-season

I still have a pic floating around of neale on his first training session estibador #truebuddies

I reckon everyone needs a player or two to behave like Sylvia for the simple reason that the other players need an example of what happens if you don't get with the program. IMO it's better to have Sylvia as the flunky than any of our new and super talented youngsters.

Yeah and all we have to do is pay them only 350k a year.

Love the hashtag idea however why don't we create a locked thread (moderators only) and then have the mods move the 'official' training reports into that thread. Would stop all the rubbish bantering in here.
Great idea. Rubbish banter can still continue here, but we can just check the locked thread every few days for an actual update. Mods can decide what constitutes a training report

I like the idea but then that eliminates the discussion that follows i.e. "was xxx out there?" "how did xxx move?" etc.
