Was Sylvia training this morning ?
I had a choice either sit in my crappy office/ warehouse and send about 100 emails ( well it seemed that many) or sit under a tree at freo oval.
So only a few points.
First, I was asked if I was using the iPad to film training, which was funny because I was using a carmera to film training for my son a 4 weeks ago. Mind you they were doing a lot of match drills today, I can understand the difference.
2nd, Clarke was doing a lot forward training.
3rd Griff looked great.
4th Nat fyle looked like he was still sore. He copped a bake for RTB at one stage for not playing on.
5th no Col.
6th over heard that MJ will back next week.

Yes! My first chance to defend my buddy!

Hey.. he's just come back from surgery & has no good shoulders left what do you expect. And if he started training the house down now it'd be so demoralising for the new kids because his ability is too amazing for anyone to live up to!

Haha thanks for the training report! Good to see you got your priorities right today.

Keeping Intel secret is not really Fremantle's thing though is it. How many other teams let people park inside their ground walk over to the fence and say g'day to the players as they jog past?
I would think this is quite common in Melbourne. When they show the training footage, a lot of their training ovals seem to be similar to ours and open to the public.

I went down to watch the main group af training today and arrived about half an hour into the session. Im not sure who trained in the rehab group. There were only about 25 players out on the field. The first and second year players were all missing. As was Mora, Dawson, Moller, Crowley, Johno, Colin, Walters (who may have gone into the gym after starting training), Mayne and Sandy. The session continued to focus on moving the ball quickly and was predominately a skills based session. There were plenty of bakes for players not making the right decision. Even Fyfe copped a bake, while Duffy stuffed up two times in a row and was told in no uncertain terms that his performance was unacceptable.

Mcpharlin was pumping out the laps and looking terrific. He is defintely leaner and IMO the most positive story of our preseason so far. To be honest I always thought Mcpharlin was such a gun athlete he could play on longer than most players. His athleticism appears to have returned to what it was in 2013 and early 2014 when you watch training.

Clarke is also looking really quick and really athletic again. (unlike the end of 2014) His sprinting ability and leading to the ball was fantastic today. Im definitely more hopeful than most here about what he could offer up forward next year. The coaches appear to be instructing him to focus on leading rather than contested marking from what I have seen. He received loud praise for some of his work as a leading forward. IMO Clarke has played his best football up forward in a roaming role rather than a deep forward role. He looks very well prepared to play as an effective tall half forward position (when not rucking) in 2015. Clarke is still younger than when most big men play their best football.

The star of training though was definitely Tabs. He dominated match simulation drills and marked everything. Last season I wouldnt have described him as exceptionally quick, but he looked lightning today.

I find it hard not get excited about our scoring potential in 2015. Tabs, a fully fit Mayne and Clarke should combine to kick a ton more goals then they did in 2014, Walters and Crozier should also kick more goals with everything being equal.

Sutcliffe also kicked fantastically and looked very athletic in training today. His side-steps and ability to get out of contested situations is brilliant.

De Boer kicked the footy really well today. His kicks appeared to be lower and flatter. Im sure he is working hard on his obvious weakness.

Mundy and Barlow also look like they have returned to full fitness. I think it is important to remember both were injured at the conclusion of season 2014. They both have considerable scope for improvement if they remain fully fit in season 2015.

I wonder where the second year players were? First years are at the induction, but Apeness, Grey, A. Pearce, Vandeleur and Ballard? They were there Monday, but not Wednesday or today.

Thanks for the report, when you think how unlucky Freo were against the swans & power at end last season it might be time to get some $$$ on them while it is still favourable odds. It's looking good, also good to see coaches don't discriminate who they get into, show a very professional organisation.
My mate said he saw some young Freo guys in Melbourne, must had some thing on, reckoned my buddy was there.

Tabs has been a star on the track every session I've seen this preseason. Matched up in defence on Pav for a while this morning. Does anyone know who was driven away from the ground with his arm in a sling?
Clancee looked like he injured his shoulder in one drill. Im not 100% sure what happened (as I was on the other side of the oval) so I didnt include it in training report.

Melbourne and Collingwood often train at Olympic Park ( with the Melb. Victory) and do a lot of public training. I think the pies head to VP if they want to be behind closed doors. Footscray oval can be viewed by any body just walking in and the same with North Melbourne. St Kilda are right next to the Freeway but I'm not sure about access to watch. Richmond can be watched by anybody. Hawthorn I'm not sure but they have houses overlooking the ground. Carlton no. Essendon I'm not sure as they have new facilities. Geelong no.
Its a shame to hear that Sylvia has Ebola now too.

Sherrif, Salim, Ken and I were sitting just around from you guys next to another couple of Big Footy training watchers on the scoreboard side wing.

We saw you with your IPad as you were leaving as you chatted to the other guys there. When Salim and I went and said hello to Groundskeeper Pat after training had finished, Pat said that a spy was spotted at the ground today and Ross was none to pleased. We presumed that it was you with your IPad.

Anyway, both the first year and second year players were at the training camp this week, so only about 24 players in total were spotted today, with 21 participating in the full match drills.

Pav looked and moved really well today, and Fyfey looked fantastic, apart from a couple of mistakes here and there.

Tabs was superb and marked everything in sight, and Zac Clarke was also moving well. Jon Griffin participated in the full drills today and was moving quite freely.

Lee Spurr just pumped out the laps and Zac Dawson was spotted in the gym.

I really liked Matt De Boer, Tommy Sheridan and Nick Suban today.

No sign of Crowls still, which is a bugger.

I have $100 on freo for the flag at $9 and 50 on GWS for the 8. I follow them over here in Sydney and the young guys out there have come back bigger and fitter and have added Griffin and Patfull. A good bet I think. Freo definately had some bad luck this year. I'm feeling positive by the training reports already

Hate to rain on your excellent report but Spurr was involved in the whole session and Luke pumped out the laps:D
