Sometimes hanging on to the best rookie priced players for the whole season is worthwhile as solid bench cover, particularly mature aged rookies or rookies with solid JS - Non sub risks.

In 2013 for example held onto Terlich, Vlastuin, Tom Mitchell, Blicavs & Staker for the whole season as bench cover. All of them came in very handy, especially during SC Finals with some good scores when I really needed them to cover for injury/susp. They in no small part helped me achieve my highest ever SC overall finish.

But if you'd traded them you'd be 50k richer

Few posts here with 12+ players to cull. Hate to break it to you, but with injuries & suspensions you won't be able to cull any more than 10 players unless you have 28+ trades or more left at this stage.

For those like me who have already burnt through 6+ trades, it's imperative to hang on to those rookies that you feel can maintain or improve their averages for 22 rounds so you at least have solid bench cover whilst using your trades to try and finish with 22 premo's on the field. For this reason I will try and hang onto players like Oxley, Saad, Cripps, CEY as bench cover & upgrade/downgrade the rookies that are younger and or not performing as well.

Not convinced on J Martin or TMac so have Dollhouse and Smith lined up depending.

Obviously things will change, but that's where I'd be if I had to pick my Round 23 team right now.

Saad, BE of -4, gun, looks likely to alternate wherever I need him for a while, while I cull others, may be out of him and Newnes to keep as a D7 when my team is finished
CEY, BE of 21, he's a gun and is consistent, will be one of my last culls unless his hammy is really bad
Cripps, BE of 68, looks ripe to be upgraded on next week but another ton may see me hold him another week, this years Polec and I'd hate to lose value on him, will trade to a fallen Rocky or something who has huge upside
VDB, BE of 61, only 1 score below 61 so I'd say he's a good chance to get that
Anderson, BE of 25, hopefully avoid the subs vest again and gets a negative BE the next week, will be a slow burn though but will likely be traded for a mid season bubble boy who pops up out of the blue etc a Miles/Gibson MK2

Simpson, as I'm not sure of his current injury and where Carlton are currently at, culled Walker last year for Malceski when Walker was out for a week with knee soreness or something, probably my best trade of the year as Malceski was a ton virtually every week after getting him and Walker was done for the year a few weeks later. May cull Naismith if a ruck rookie other than him pops up out of the blue surprisingly, used him a few times as a loophole though.

21 trades left and would like another 8-10 premiums somehow. Going to play massive moneyball to get the best value for money for some fallens. If I can work on a strategy that 3 maxed out rookies gets you 2 fallen premiums and another rookie then I'd do it, but it's probably closer to 5 maxed out rookies gets you 3 premiums and 2 rookies.
