That certainly isn't true. The junior games get called off just as quick, if not quicker than the senior games. Beyond ridiculous. I actually overheard an under 16's player at the club talking about moving to Victoria to play footy, and stated that he had never played in the rain. He is gonna get a big shock.

I've done goal and boundary umpire, and on field coaching for juniors in the rain for the last 4 seasons. Games haven't been called off, kinda wish they were though as it's pretty hard watching the kids standing there in a huddle shivering from being cold and wet at 9am games

2nd week of finals last year in this division were played in a heavy downpour, I think its the players starting to get a bit precious.

Having said that, wouldn't want to be at Kedron tonight if it's pissing down. Not the best field for drainage!

Still trying to work out aflq. Earlier in the year we were told we couldn't play our wet weather game on the Friday nite before the rep weekend. In fact they said no games will be allowed. Then they let pine rivers play on that Saturday at the same time.
We wanted to buy some footys was told they had to come from Melbourne would be a couple of weeks. Last week we were told we needed pink shorts for our runner in finals. I said ok how much and when can I pick them up. The answer we don't have any but if you like I can order them and you can get them in four weeks. If you don't have them you could be fined or ruuner sent off.
We put in for finals this includes the Gf. Was told that the GF had to be played on a neutral ground. Check out were its played. If zillmere get through it will be a home game for them. Good luck to them but they Finnish fourth and could possibly have 3 home finals.
Was told a couple of times throughout the year they couldn't find an umpire. I called thier umpires direct and got them to umpire as they didn't have a game that day. They were happy to do it.
OK this is not being just bitchy these are facts and really happened.
I'm sure im not alone in this thought and have vented now.
I will probably get sited on this but they are facts and the truth is not something you should not get hung for.

There is no way we (2nd place) are playing Zillmere (4th) on their home ground in a prelim. There are plenty of suitable neutral venues we can play at, and if it doesn't need to be neutral we can play at Chelmer since we earnt the home advantage. ...

Outandabout - they wouldn't let you host GF even if you werent in it because they tape the game and the lighting minimum standards are set higher.

Yes I get that mate. We were hoping to get the lights fixed but parts are in south Australia. But there's something wrong with you guys having to play on thier home ground. Then if they win a home grand final.
Just a heap of bad decisions and poor management.
I hope you get the game changed you deserve the right to host.

No doubt they delayed anouncing this because they knew how bad a decision it is! I was told prelim and GF venue have been locked in for weeks...so why not tell anyone?

I would fight like hell to get game changed.
Correct me if I'm wrong but do zillmere have a bar or somewhere were supporter's can have a beer or two.
I think there club house is closed.

We have been told that it is "AFLQ policy that all prelims and GF's will be at neutral grounds". Now I can understand the GF, esp as there will always be plenty of venues but for some sort of "policy" to have been created in the last 5 years (as prior to this prelims were at home grounds) is unbelievable. What sort of stupidity is this? Basically it means finishing 2nd is actually, in many cases, worse than finishing 3rd. 3rd plays 4th at their him ground, 2nd plays 1st away and then, if they lose play at a neutral ground the following week! makes far more sense to play the prelim at the higher teams ground as they have earnt this right on a number of levels, not the least being that this club could go thru a finals series without 1 final being played at their ground and missing the revenue that goes with this! Every year I am flummoxed to the logic with a few decisions that come from AFLQ offices and this is certainly one of them...

If I ran my business like that. I would be in big trouble. Don't carry stock are you kidding me. Tell dodgy stories and expect people to cop it.
Mate i will be mad as hell if we have to play zillmere on thier ground in a gf. Especially when we were told it had to be a neutral ground.
Not zillmeres fault I must say but I will be asking for us to get the home sheds. Wonder how that will go down.
If you tell people one thing then follow through.
Unacceptable in my opinion and I'll wear the consequences as I'm sick of it all.
Not just my club but the whole bloody thing.
