At the level of this SOCIAL league, the AFLQ are just looking for local competitions to remove need to travel. They really don't care about it being even.

But even looking at other divisions there are teams that easily win week after week, but they stuck in the division they in as they don't have enough funds to afford to play in the higher divisions.

Unless AFLQ wants the competition to be even across the whole league in each division I guess not much is going to change.

I wouldn't get too excited about what happens early in the season in this league.

The only reason we were undefeated last year was because the draw was very kind to us, we played most of the bottom sides in the opening 5-6 rounds when we were still sorting out numbers and getting fitter, then finished the season strongly against the better performed sides because we had reasonable availability and used actual matches as our pre season.

In the end I'm not sure we ever actually put our best side on paper out there, but we were close.

Given our draw this year, we week need to switch on a bit earlier this year, as we found on Saturday. Redbacks lead the entire game until the last minute.

We have 8-10 guys to come back in the coming months, but early rounds are great for our new guys - especially the ones new to the sport. Couple already showing plenty of talent after only 2 rounds.

I haven't played yet, and I'm nervous about getting picked now!

Well that is a worry if you went undefeated without putting best team on field :)

Big difference from the first round agenst Yeronga compared to the second game last year.

You missed some easy shots on goal on the weekend that would Made a big difference to the end margin.

Who says its a social league? It's just a league, every team would treat it differently.

For some clubs, its their senior playing list playing - and that wouldn't be considered 'just a social league'.

You were President of some failed club for 5 minutes and think you can solve all the worlds problems all of a sudden?

Did some call 'dial an excuse' ? Sounds like you're conceding defeat for the next 2 weeks and making excuses in advance.

He's talking rubbish. I doubt any team anywhere actually puts their 100% best side on the park, but they would have been mighty close in the finals last year. 1 gun mid and 1 gun forward were missing, and the forward was injured since Round 3, so you can hardly count him!

Young man by the name of Westbrook-Mcintyre kicked 6 for Kedron on the weekend, very positive signs in the absence of Fitzgibbon. Both are athletic, strong leading forwards and combined with their big fella at CHF and their goalkicking mids such as Powell running through the middle, I really don't know how any defence in this comp is going to prevent them from kicking an insurmountable score.

I'm sure the likes of Ed McDonnel and Tim Green are shaking in their boots.

umm actually most people who are in this league seem to refer to it that way, wasn't what I referred to it as when I joined here, but I was put in my place by others who insisted that why it a Friday night league. but I happy if you want to call it a normal league.

You were President of some failed club for 5 minutes and think you can solve all the worlds problems all of a sudden?
Actually been around a long time in Junior circles just not in Seniors, but do appreciate there is a vast difference between the two. But I didn't offer any solutions their Mr AFLQ Fan, I just offered an observation if we have to be professional footballers only to offer opinions here then I do apologise profusely to you.

Perhaps allowing discussion is how problems can be solved by hearing differing opinions and not accepting the status quo.

Not at all. Just saying that the draw flattered us last year. We put teams out there last year that would have been flogged by the better sides, but out of pure luck we happened to be playing a bottom side.

Eg. In Round 1 we nearly lost to Kenmore and were 6 goals down. We only beat Yeronga by 3 points first time around when heaps of guys were unavailable, then beat them by 100 when we had our full side in.

I'm sure other clubs are similar, but in a one team club you can have enormous variances from week to week in standard given the can be as many as 15 changes!

Who are they?

Tim Green is our CHB, he is one of the best footballers going around. Ed Mac plays for us also, but not often. He was on St Kilda rookie list, so can obviously play a bit. After tussling with Fraser Gehrig at training for 2 years, I'm sure he'll be ok unless he has to play on Dickfos :)

EdMac is a fill in player, not a permanent one.

Greeny is a copper, so availability varies.

Then there is little old me, I get the honour of playing in defence when these boys are not around. Though I do prefer it back there, even at my age
