How did Corrie go, he was coaching my boy at Sherwood two years ago, how I see he at Kenmore, he is a nice bloke always respected his coaching style.

I would be very hesitant throwing around numbers like 17! But looking at the team sheets I would suggest there are 6-8 who would make a difference between the grades who didn't play.

Lets not have that detract from Coomera and is by no means an excuse - I doubt very much any team in any comp in Australia actually fields their best available 22 or 44 on any one weekend.

Its less then ideal of course but it is what it is - hopefully things improve and as yeronga showed last year when it clicks you can beat anyone - I personally thought Yeronga were the danger team in the seniors in the back end of 2014 and had their first final been played in the dry who knows where they would have ended up.

17 was the number I was told and not detracting from Coomera they've picked up a few quality players
they were first to the ball harder at the contest and played with more passion
They deserved to win

I thought your boy played at Yeronga?

Anthony Corrie is an excellent coach and a fine young man. How Sherwood allowed him to just walk out to their neighbours is anyones guess. He would have been a fine asset to a rebuilding QAFL Club, but he must have had his reasons.

would suggest there may have been decent coin offered at the bears and he has another family member playing there. not sure if he was there before Anthony arrived. One thing is for sure that all of the Corrie's have been quality players and blokes!

My mail is he went overseas, the Colts job was advertised, he didn't apply (not thinking he had to), came back, position was filled. His mate Foz was appointed coach of Kenmore, no doubt asked Anthony if he was keen to be involved, said yes.

Damn looks like we are on the same page again QAFL! I personally don't understand it - however from reading the QAFL forum I believe Noosa have found themselves in a similar position recently due to constitution that its a requirement to readvertise the role each year. Cant imagine it sends a great message to the incumbent - "yeah we are happy for you to coach again.... if we don't find anyone any better in the mean time"!

Yep, and now Magpies Colts have folded within 2 years of sacking Corrie (sorry, "not offering him the job..")

Made a big deal about appointing Quintin Johnson as their Colts coach and now he is out of a job because they can't field a side. He is one of the best coaches going around, what a debacle.

Yes he moves around a lot ! Played Sherwood Colts under Corrie, then went to Springfield and now at Yeronga. Corrie did ask him to go to Kenmore not sure why he didn't go.
But yes I have the same thoughts on Corrie, was developing well at Sherwood Colts level and could see he would one day make a great Seniors Coach.

ok lads here are the facts Anthony was offered a role at the maggies that would be assisted by aflq to develop him as a senior coach he accepted the role, then changed his mind and decided to head to kenmore. He was very well paid at the club and deserved every cent as he played a big paart in them winning the 2013 flag.
Quentin Johnson is a very well respected football person in qld and is leading the development of the youth teams at the club,he should be congratulated on his giving as coach in area over a long period not slandered. For one reason or another the numbers were not suffcient to put a colts team in and it was decided rather than having a team floundering they would concentrate on the development of their youth programme and go from there (many other clubs have struggled to feild a new colts team). Any young player or parent should jump on board at the maggies as they are back on the right path and will continue to develop local talent rather than take the easy option of playing lower level footy where training and commitment isnt a focus.

2012 Flag? Not the sort of guy that would reneg on a deal imo, but agree to disagree.

Agreed, he should be the senior coach somewhere.

Any young player or parent should jump on board at the maggies as they are back on the right path and will continue to develop local talent rather than take the easy option of playing lower level footy where training and commitment isnt a focus.

Can't disagree there. If you're a young bloke and going to have Quinton Johnson and Greg Holman giving you tips, you're not going to go wrong imo.

Shame they couldn't get a 19's up, I see QJ is now coaching the Ressies instead.

Yeah might agree to disagree too Speedy - this version is no doubt correct but i think there may have been a couple of things left out that change the thinking pattern for Corrie. He probably didn't really want the job you have described but as there was no Colts job on offer he had to take it. Instead he was offered an assistant role with Kenmore. Quite amazing that there is no Colts team at Magpies esp when a quality person was appointed. Considering UQ have exceptional numbers (for them) it is interesting.

Wow so sad a competition has teams beating other good teams by 100 pts , I hope you wrong and the season is interesting to watch. Lucky we don't have to pay entrance fees if the season will be so one sided.

Springwood look to me to be pretty keen to win another 2 flags this year. I played in our ressies backline for the day and am seeking compensation from their club. I've got a huge chiropractor bill from tilting my head back watching the ball go over it all day!

We struggled for numbers this week, but Springwood were a class outfit all over the park. The forwards kicked bags but their backline rebounded everything we sent in there. Their midfield ran all day and provided some great delivery.

Their seniors played well for the half I could stay for, and I thought our boys did really well to stick with them. We will continue to grow and develop youth which is the whole reason we wanted to step up into the league.

For the competitions sake I do hope Springwood take their foot off the gas and can be shown to be vulnerable.

Cheers to the club umpires too. Pretty fair all day.

well that's sad they too good for this division, does take some enjoyment from anticipating a good season and watching some games.

Sadly cant wish for injuries to even it up wouldn't wish that on anyone.

So apart from bribery how does another club come competitive against a team full of better players and sounds like a reserves team full of good players too.

Sounds to me that AFLQ really need to look at making it easier to move between divisions so that it isn't prohibitively expensive to play in a higher division. The grand finalists each year should be promoted up.

The thing is, apart from paying more cash for the right to play in the QAFL and the associated 'holier than thou' attitude that might bring to some clubs - administrators from most of the QAFL clubs will tell you that their monumental fees don't provide them very many extra benefits (if any) than playing in the QFA does, apart from a 3rd field umpire!

I'd love to see an itemised breakdown of what service is provided to QAFL clubs by AFLQ that isn't provided to QFA clubs for the huge difference in financial outlay. I'd imagine it would fit on a post it note (one of the small ones)
