Hi all this is my first post, you've got a cracking website with great resources.
Hoping my reasoning may entice some comment.
Hopefully this post ain't too long especially for a first post.

This is a side I threw together by initially picking the players with the highest projected score for round 1 within their price range barring the ruckmen
The 2 cheap starting rucks are the most popular combo in the game so far.
I'll monitor them early and then hopefully cash in on Kreuzer when he returns.

$95,000 in the bank to tweak it and fix that defence.
Some of these players I've never seen or heard of
icon_lol.gif

No Kangaroos yet, like to get one in.
With 2 trades each week I can gamble on the rucks, Adcock and a few others.

here I go

Player Value Avg.2014 Breakeven Projected
Defenders
J. Newnes 464000 82 82 71 bandwagon
J. Adcock 409000 72 72 83 he might just be ok, when he gets injured i'll trade the croc
H. Lumumba 402000 71 71 64 don't like this pick, not a dter imo. not cheap either.
K. Kolodjashnij 387000 68 68 72 taking a punt he'll improve again
B. Smedts 177000 35 31 48 bandwagon, not happy as I think he'll be over rated even at that price? most have him
T. Clurey 120000 28 21 35 he will be lucky to be on my bench come lockout
M. Dick 120000 0 21 39 never heard of him
A. Saad 120000 0 21 39 emg bandwagon, coach says he's in the frame for rd1

Midfielders
G. Ablett 675000 119 119 118 Perma Captain, will he play rd1 though?
S. Pendlebury 614000 108 108 98 gun who is better suited to supercoach. rd1 projection is poor but he's in for now but might change yet.
J. Selwood 603000 106 107 106 gun who's durable and reliable
J. Redden 598000 105 106 110 pod with beams & rocky to take tags. this'll give him freedom to up his avg? hope so
L. Parker 585000 103 103 105 gun and I wanted a swans player in my team
R. Griffen 485000 85 86 89 will he get back to old form at a new club? I think he will be a keeper
B. Newton 192000 41 34 42 don't know, bandwagon pick
B. Acres 166000 37 29 40 same as above
C. Ellis-Yolmen 120000 15 21 34 emg looks like he might get a game at a budget price
A. Vandenberg 120000 0 21 42 bandwagon baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Rucks
M. Leuenberger 277000 57 49 68 you just know he'll score 30-60 and get injured. he'll be traded for Kreuzer
T. Bellchambers 281000 54 50 56 hoping he improves, if not he'll go too!
A. Phillips 149000 36 26 42 emg never heard of him
M. Cox 120000 0 21 38 dpp, might be able to utilise later in the season by benching him in the fwds and having Ryder in the ruck? just a thought.

Forwards
B. Deledio 548000 96 97 98 gun
R. Gray 546000 96 96 107 gun
T. Mitchell 432000 86 76 91 risky, not convinced. I know he can score big but will he be a regular?
D. Swan 531000 93 94 102 gun, gotta improve on last season's odd performance
M. Clark 156000 0 28 43 cheap and will play, must have to start the season. everybody has him
M. Honeychurch 179000 40 32 41 is he in their best 22?
C. Salem 193000 34 34 30 emg expensive for a bench player but proving popular
C. McCarthy 136000 33 24 39 bandwagon

Lewis? thats very ballsy, showing okay signs but only had the one real standout season. would not call him a super premo atm by any stretch. are you thinking youll go in without both rocky and gaz?

I am definitely not picking Gablett. His injury concerns worry me plus no pre-season. They have also brought in players like Hallahan & Malceski (allows other players to move off the HBF) plus the growth of players like Swallow, Shaw, Prestia..... I think Gablett will be eased back in. Therefore I reckon when he plays, he will loose price as a forward pocket before being pushed into the mids. Therefore I predict that I will be able to get him cheaper. It is a risk I am 100% willing to take.

On Rocky, I am contemplating him. He is definitely the best captain option!!! I am looking at the structure of my team to see if the price for him is worth it. Currently whats holding me back is the lack of defender options that are cheap. In addition, I am a little worried with the rookies available in the midfield. I am definitely experimenting with my team at the moment.

In my opinion there is only one super premo at the moment and that is Rocky. Then there is the next tier down with players like Priddis, Pendles, Beams (New club though), etc........ Where as Lewis is in a different category with players like Parker, Gray that have one awesome season (DT) behind them and have looked the goods in preseason. Gablett is an unknown quantity due to his injury.

The projected score is equivalent to the money on the field. Everyone has a fairly low projected score.

My opinion on your team:

1. Your rucks are really, really weak. Leuy will definitely be a 2nd ruck (if selected) and Bellchambers well, not a safe pick. (At this stage I am going with 2 premium Rucks, and I cant see that changing. Just who the premo's are)
2. Your defence is way to weak. Dick and Clurey I doubt will play. You need to have all the players playing. You need to look at upgrading. You need all players playing ( except reserve rucks :( )

Thats my opinion, but I am no expert.

cheers, yeah I agree with the crappy backs and rucks. just trying to work out who I downgrade to create the cash to upgrade elsewhere.

Your forwards and mids a very strong. Maybe to strong. I reckon there is some money for downgrading. In addition I personally am choosing 2 400k+ defenders as there are a few in the 300k mark that I am banking on (Though Lumumba I really want).

Well anyway, just something to consider. I may be wrong but thats what bigfooty is for. advice weather right or wrong. Only time will tell.

Rocket said Ablett will be right for round 1 yesterday before the game....if Ablett is named i am starting him without a doubt. He will score 100+ with 1 hand.

And against melbourne too :D he will still score 100 points with both hands behind his back

yeah can't see any of this forward pocket stuff actually coming to fruition again, especially at the start of the season. might start there at the beginning a quarter or so, but we want wins this season and the best player in the comp isn't going to just sit there and watch. even then, he's a terrific contested mark. sure guys like dion, o'meara and swallow will be having more of a stamp on things, and harley and martin will see more stints around the ball, but this won't affect gaz much. i'm all for people thinking this though haha. bookmark a 120 if he gets up to start, which he should

Thoughts on my team?

B: Smith - Newnes - Shaw - Kolodjashnij - Sheppard - Goodes (Jones - Clurey)
C: Ablett - Beams - Kennedy Treloar - Neale - Newton - Anderson - Cripps (Ellis-Yolmen - Vandenberg)
R: Mumford - Leuenberger (Griffin - Holmes)
F: Bartel - Martin - Gray - T.Lynch - Honeychurch - Clark (Lambert - Byrne)

I still have 73k in the bank. Thanks.

Someone that has had the injury he had, is not going to be rushed. I just think that he will have some rust and will do heaps of damage from the forward line in his first game.

I would also be worried about him getting subbed off. If I was in a winning position and was the coach he would be the first one in the red vest.

I guess we have to agree to disagree and see how our strategies go in the season.

Thoughts?

B: Smith - Newnes - H.Shaw - Kolodjashnij - Hunt - Goodes (Z.Jones - Saad)

Personally I wouldn't pick Hunt, Treloar or Swan as I can't see value in those three. I think Griffen or Steven will avg as much as Treloar. I don't think Swan is quite right yet (he's an upgrade target for mine) but with D5, well I'm struggling too!!
Rucks, I don't like at all. NN is coming off one NAB game and Luey will be lucky to avg 60.

Also not sold on Smith in the back line, too much competition for that rebounding spot at the crows.

So I guess Ill post mine now. Quite different to a lot here

B: Newmes, Lumumba, KK, Taylor, C. Pearce, Goodes (Brown, Saad)

M: Pendles, Beams, Jelwood, Griffin, Neale, Steven, CEY, Cripps (Vanderberg, Acres)

R: Smith, Bellchambers (Griffin, Phillips)

F: Bartel, Martin, Gray, Bonts, Honeychurch, Clark (Salem, McCarthy)

Thoughts on my updated team

B: Smith - Newnes - Shaw - Kolodjashnij - Geary - Goodes (Jones - Saad)
C: Ablett - Beams - Greene - Parker - Neale - Newton - Anderson - Cripps (Vandenberg - Amon)

I don't really get it, and I'm seeing it so often. Can you tell me why you've got treloar, Parker and Neale (not so much) in your m2-4 spots? It just seems so risky, and the reward isn't even that great I wouldn't think. Why them over say a pendles and Barlow

Good team though. Be weary of jack martin, can't see his average being much more than 70-75 atm. Look to get Anderson on your bench too, good cow.

Cheers for the feedback Jess. Players mentioned aren't stars as such but Parker and Treloar can easy average 100 + a game. Parker's almost a mid/fwd, damaging forward who is strong contested and a good mark.

Treloar just seems a smart pick, Neale I think will continue his upward curve from 2014. Any players I should be looking at instead of Parker, Treloar, Neale?

oh I wasn't saying pick someone else, you obviously had reasons for selecting them. Its just that I've seen that trio quite a bit, and can't really see parker or treloar being in the top 8 mids. Was just wondering why, because they aren't overly cheap

I actually think Parker will be a top 8 mid. By the end of the year I can see him in most people's line ups. He is actually the only Swan In my line up. I don't have the others you mentioned though.

In addition his round 12 bye helps with my planning for the bye rounds.

I must say I tend to agree. Once I'm paying over around $550k for a mid then I want them to stay in my team all year, barring injury or some massive unforseen roll change.

Swans don't have a history of massive DT mid numbers plus for mine there are a few players $50-$100k cheaper that I reckon are a fair chance to avg as much as Parker.
