Draft Review 2015 - Redo the 2015 AFL Draft

I can’t see any way Smack isn’t in our best 22 right now.

Anyway the original comment I made was the fact he wouldn’t force any of Hooker, Hurley or Ambrose out of the side. Halfway through the year it was laughed at in regards to Ambrose. I think most have acknowledged how important Ambrose is now though. I never stated that I didn’t rate Weitering, I think he’ll be a more than serviceable defender for the next decade
Smack, as good as he's been, has kicked the most goals he has in a season this year with 17. All three others have kicked 40+ in their time, Hooker's kicked more in half a season.

Just reiterating a point I made earlier in the year that was berated by a few lads on here which now doesn't look so silly.

Also enjoying yet another ridiculous call by Wild Bill... He's making a fair habit of it
Gee that Kennedy is no good. Did your best defender go to him?

Nah our best 1 on 1 defender went to Darling which is why he only kicked 2 including 1 junktime. What point are you trying to make here?
Why would Essendon's best 1 on 1 defender go to the 2nd best forward? Kennedy is far more likely to kick a bag, surely the coaching at the Dons isn't that dense..

Our best defender went to West Coast's best forward of 2019.

Would think going to the one who was just named in an All Australian team and came 3rd in the Coleman isn’t that poor of a decision. Kennedy hadn’t done anything for a month and he was lucky enough to cop a very underdone Hurley and Hooker.

Our mistake was playing Hurley at all, would’ve been better off running with Hartley.

Weitering would have been really handy last night.

This kind of retort works better when you don't have to wait 3 months to post it.

Nice to know you're still thinking about me though Bill ♥♥
Well the way you talked him up I thought I would give you the benefit of the doubt and wait and see if he was any good.

Then - last night happened.

More like you were waiting for your chance to hit "Post reply" since June, I bet you even had the draft saved.

No doubt Parish was very ordinary last night, but overlooking a great body of work this year for one game is true delusion. Unfortunately this delusion is fast becoming par for these threads, it's why I frequent them a lot less and am a better person for it.

Delusional is posting Parish had a great body of work this year.

A 20 touch mid averaging 4 turnovers a game. He torches the footy by foot. He would have had 1 or 2 games this year where he was 6th best player on the ground. Way to generous to call this a great body of work.

Cunnington has averaged 21 disposals over his career, yet you are bagging a young player for only averaging 20 (he had a game where he was injured early and a couple more where he played majority forward too). Jy Simpkin is a forward/mid that kicked only 6 goals and averaged 18.5 disposals per game.
Going by stats alone is a poor way to judge players. Parish did have a bad game and kicked poorly but overall he had a very promising season.

You see Parish becoming Ben Cunnington? One of the premium inside contested ball winners? Make sure you stick around - this post will be a lot of fun.
Not sure what was so promising about Parishs season - he only picked up a few coaches votes V Dees (3), Blues (3) and Freo (1). If this is promising then you need to raise the bar.

Simpkin isn't from this draft and moved into the midfield where he had some monster games. So much so the coaches thought his year was better than the kid that went at 1 in his draft.

It's not that I see Parish becoming exactly like Cunnington, but going by the stats you listed in the above post, Cunnington is a failure. That is my point.
I understand you don't think his season was 'promising' and that's fine, you are entitled to your opinion. I think he showed a lot of promise myself. I think it is hilarious how you describe Simpkin as someone who had 'monster' games and Parish as not even promising. lol

36 disposals, 21 contested, 1 goal BOG
33 disposals, 13 contested, 1 goal BOG

Now that is promising!!

5th best on ground against the Blues? Yeah he turned it on!!

Wow you got me Bill, because some other players played well he had an average game. lol
Simpkin was fifth for the coaches votes in one of the games you listed too (bog? lol!), against port who were witches hats and you flogged them by nearly 90 points. Yeah he really turned it on!!! lol

The good thing about Simpkin is he is creative, makes good decisions and kicks the ball really well. If the Eagles final didn’t open your eyes then nothing will. Parish is a very limited footballer.
