Can anyone who watched the game last night tell me their thoughts on Cam Ellis-Yolmen?
Where did he play? His role? General impression of his game.

Played as an inside mid, chalked up alot of contested handballs, kicking isn't his strong suit but looked good in tight around the contest, had one really nice passage of play in the forward line where he was tackled and managed to squeeze out a handball whilst being brought to ground to an open team mate who goaled. Can find plenty of the footy, chalked up some clearances too. Looked more than decent enough.

He intrigues me. Been around a while now. Was considered an elite talent as a junior.
His form in the SANFL last year was apparently excellent. Seems ready for greater opportunity but the question mark will be whether that opportunity is there for him. Lots of ball winning mids in the Crows team already. I know he did spend all of 2013 playing halfback in the lower league, but he certainly seems to play his best footy as an inside mid. Competing with the likes of both Crouch boys, Kerridge, Lyons, Laird, supposedly Smith spending time in the middle

That's the issue, whether he is redundant for Adelaide. He isn't a great user of the footy especially by foot and against North in their first game did turn it over a fair bit, however he still seems very suited to SC as he wins most of his disposals contested. He would have to be guaranteed a pure inside midrole to have relevance and I can't see him playing any other position as his foot skills aren't good enough for a rebounding defender for example nor to be a goal threat if played up forward. Scores of 73 (72% TOG) and 107 (69% TOG) are very solid however and he has to be considered.He intrigues me. Been around a while now. Was considered an elite talent as a junior.

Hasn't stopped JPK or Priddis being elite scorers, in fact it is probably better for them to win plenty of contested handballs than kicks out in the open considering they don't have particularly great kicks on them.

Love Smith, he's my D1 as we speak. But I've selected him as my D1 fully expecting him to spend 100% of his TOG as a running halfback. He was All-Australian filling this role last year. I see no reason why this would change in 2015 despite the best wishes of many on these forums. Adelaide have a pretty full midfield rotation as it is. If he were to spend any time in there, it wouldn't be much.
How did Atley's full-time move to the midfield play out last year? Or Rioli's the year before that?
