Crikey, Newton and Salem I thought woudl crack 90 or something, I didn't see the game, but its unconvicing for SC thats for sure, well, Newton anyway!
Newton gave a 50 away with 20 odd seconds left inside Melbourne's 50 when they were looking to take the lead that would have cost him a fair few points.

What're the thoughts on Lumumba, averaging about 115 odd over the 3 NAB games. Played against some generally easy competition though

I'm thinking Patrick Cripps looks a pretty good option, I can't have both Cripps and Newton (unless I go with 4 premium mids and considering I want all of Ablett, Pendlebury, Fyfe, Selwood, Beams, Parker and Lewis that's not happening for me!).

Especially to TheOz as a Carlton supporter, would you have Cripps over Newton?

It's actually a decision that I've been trying to make myself and I think at this stage I'm leaning towards Newton purely because he has been in the AFL system for a few more years although I see Cripps as a viable option as well. For a second year player he is a massive unit, wins most of his possessions as contested possessions and is a player who I think will feature for us this year. He had an interrupted season last year with injury but has had a very good pre-season and was one of our best against the Pies last weekend. He doesn't win truckloads of possesions but the ones he does win are mostly hard ball gets so he can score well from fewer possessions, I see Newton as a player who can win more of the ball in quicker time, seems more of a burst player, Cripps more of an inside midfielder extractor type.
