i think if i had that much money to spend at D5 i'd seriously consider him. there doesnt seem to be much else in that price range
In my team but I'm nervous. If he isn't keeper material I will trade him out in round 13 (taking advantage of the bye). Did look good in the NAB - at least the bits I saw.

He'll be lucky to get a game. If he does get games it's because he will have a tagging role.
Don't think this is the case, he may occasionally be given a tagging role, but both coach and player has said they are keen to release him into a more attacking role on the wing/half back. He's played there both NAB games and been very good in both. "Monty" for round one Hardwick said after saturday if he continued to play like that. He's scored 70 and 100 in the two games so far. Worth considering imo.

Toying with the idea of a backline with.
1. B Smith 2. J Gibson 3. J Newnes 4. S Thompson 5. Gibbotson 6. N Brown.

I think backline rookies are gonna be pretty light on this year, I doubt we will see 2 rookies consistently play every week.
What are peoples thoughts on the mid-price strategy.

Def Mid-price strategy = good
3 KP Defs = not so good

Not sure I would call Gibson a KP Def, but see your point. Was hoping with some younger guys coming through at North, Thompson plays loose/3rd man in role which he dominated in 2013. And Nathan Browns job security is high.
Best case scenario you'd start a rookie ahead of N Brown anyway

Toying with the idea of Harry Taylor sure some up and down weeks but i think he can av 90-93.
If he has indeed been working on his running capacity he should be able to maintain that average.

The biggest issue with Taylor is that when they play against teams with a tall forward line he will end up hanging back and locking someone down, which is where is low scores will come in.

That being said, you would be fairly safe to say that most of the guys in the backline are going to pump out some low scores on and off, thats why none of them have ever been able to maintain the ton average.

With Tarrant going back this year Scott Thompson is a possibility of increasing his score if he isn't required to play key back as much and can zone off more intercept marks etc etc

Short term I think that will be the case, but when Hansen comes back from injury that could change as he plays that role so well too
