Have watched the GF again as much as it pained me and we got absolutely owned in the stoppages . We may have won the clearances but had no time space or spread from the contest to use it effectively . The big bodies of hodge and Lewis just smashed us . Poor priddis was getting hammered pillar to post every time with no help ! Often 2 to 1 . Yeo shuey masten even sheed didn't get down and dirty to get the ball as the hawks out bodied us . Natanui didn't have his normal follow up work and hutch couldn't get his hands free at all .

Redden would have been very useful yesterday to even the odds at the coal face , much more useful than jetta !

Yeo and sheed also need to go hard on the tough inside work in the off season if we are to match the better midfields and give our outside guys first use and forwards more entries .
Spot on. Once again our midfield game needs to go to the next level.

man there are some flog posts .
We just got to a gf and imo were well bellow our best. Our midfield group is pretty decent, gaff yeo shuey are all very good players with inprovement (Esp. Yep) still to come and best years Agead of them.

Imo the number one priority in list management should be getting duggans signature, this kid is an a ripper.

The midfield needs the most improvement partly because Shuey has not improved from previous seasons.

Only Eagles fans admire him. He is mediocre and his current value is at a peak.
This bit is the only thing (out of all the rubbish you posted) that makes sense. He is our most damaging midfielder, of course the opposition fans hate him.

What do you think we would get in a trade for shuey out of interest

You're a better man than me watching it again.

I've never researched a GF loss.

I don't get it, why trade for something we likely don't need? What would you trade for McCarthy?
Trade picks in 3 way deal for a player that GWS needs i.e a ruckman from another club perhaps.

You can't pigeonhole a player and say because he is currently a forward, well we dont need another key forward. Probably not a great list management strategy especially when McCarthy has had reasonable success at fullback also last season as a skinny kid.

How many of our other KPP can play both back and forward with reasonable success aside from GOV?

Our midfield creamed the Hawks only 3 weeks ago, minus 2 starting midfielders so there is an argument for the fact that it may have been a midfield dynamic issue also on Saturday...

We drafted 3 or 4 midfielders and recruited Yeo just in the last couple of years, but not really any genuine KP players.

I know I sound like a broken record and agree wholeheartedly that midfielders win games but there are other considerations to take into account.

You've a better man than me watching it again.

I've never researched a GF loss.
Watched it first time at the pub and pissy so you miss a lot of the small stuff like stoppage structure and match ups . It wasn't pretty viewing but I got a new appreciation for how well the hawks played especially Burgoyne ! Him hitting ridiculous kicks under pressure from defence over and over allowed them to carve us up on so many occasions .
We also had a lot of 50/50 loose balls to win and we didn't .
Also saw Wellingham shirk a contest where he should have gone back into the pack and didn't . Missed it first time surprised I haven't seen it mentioned .

We can't trade Shuey. Inside and outside and generally good disposal (and hits score board). Didn't deal well with the pressure of a GF but far from our worst.

Jetta slight upgrade on Masten/Rosa so could be an ok get - hope we don't sell the farm.

Sinclair OR Lycett only trade if at very right price. Would prefer not to. Need ruck depth and if we do trade to replace one (but then what's the point).

Redden - why not if only for a draft pick. Is young, probably an upgrade on Hutchings. Our window is now and draft is weak anyway.

Think our improvement will and needs to come from within - Yeo more midfield time, Sheed and Duggan to come on. So we see less of Hutch/Rosa/Masten.

Gov forward (or both as needed)! With E Mac back and firing. Maybe even Wellingham on a wing?

We should also look out for good kicks/those with composure, as Hawks showed you can't have enough of them.

Also, is Ellis going to recapture his best form? If not I think we need a plan B there.

We drafted him because we thought he might assist in snaring a premiership, with his experience, and it wouldn't cost us anything. Basically, the punt was worth taking.
