No, he didn't nominate, we simply said we'll draft you and we'll try and talk you into coming and playing for the eagles in Perth. That part wasn't so successful.

So he retired, then decided he wanted to play again? I assume he had to nominate for the draft.
Back then you were automatically included in the draft for 3 years after you retired or were delisted so you didn't have to nominate for the draft

Eagles took a punt thinking they could convince him to play on. They couldn't so delisted him at the end of 1992 and the bombers drafted him again to help guide their young side. Won the flag in 1993

Thankyou for explaining so much better than me, about the auto 3 year nomination.

Also ChampRevesby the gloating has been brought to a screeching halt.

Watched it first time at the pub and pissy so you miss a lot of the small stuff like stoppage structure and match ups . It wasn't pretty viewing but I got a new appreciation for how well the hawks played especially Burgoyne ! Him hitting ridiculous kicks under pressure from defence over and over allowed them to carve us up on so many occasions .
We also had a lot of 50/50 loose balls to win and we didn't .
Also saw Wellingham shirk a contest where he should have gone back into the pack and didn't . Missed it first time surprised I haven't seen it mentioned .
I've watched the game again. IMO Wellingham didn't shirk, he made a decision to line up front and centre for spoil. I have seen it mentioned on the main board and find it funny when a player that has backed into packs for most of the year would all of a sudden develop a soft spot.

Yeo shuey masten even sheed didn't get down and dirty to get the ball as the hawks out bodied us . Natanui didn't have his normal follow up work and hutch couldn't get his hands free at all .

Redden would have been very useful yesterday to even the odds at the coal face , much more useful than jetta !

Yeo and sheed also need to go hard on the tough inside work in the off season if we are to match the better midfields and give our outside guys first use and forwards more entries .
Shuey had 1 less clearance than Priddis for the game, same amount as Mitchell from Hawks and didn't fumble the possession when given a chance. We had opportunities and didn't take them. We won clearances this game and lost them in QF, raw clearance figures don't mean much. 1 clean Shuey clearance is worth half a dozen scrubbers to space IMO.

NN didnt look well and must have been playing with an injury. As he went of ball pretty quickly after the first few stoppages.

Doubt he wants to sign while recovering from a PCL. Most players know there's a significant financial benefit to waiting until they are back in the 22 (or at least in contention for the 22).

That said, the sub rule being gone will definitely help us retain him, hated to see him having to get vested all the time (even though he probably needed it in his first year somewhat).

So, Jack Redden...
- 190cm (taller than i thought)
- good overhead
- dual sided (was unaware of this, but his left peg is quite good)
- high tackler
- adept both in clearances and on the spread
- 25 yo, so in his prime

I'm sold. Please get.

On Trade Radio Jetta's agent said what we already know; he is keen to come home, preference is Eagles but could go Freo. Also said Yarran asked for trade to Tigers. Leuenberger keen to go to Bombers

Matt Suckling is an unrestricted free agent.... Now he we should look at him. Absolutely elite kicking skills.

Would be a 15th-20th best player in our team. His main role is a position we have well covered in medium sized backs but he could play numerous roles - rotational midfielder, medium sized forward, wingman.

He also squeezes one of our medium defenders (as will McKenzie and Brown) so it just adds to our overall depth. Would probably push a guy like Ellis out. Back six of E-Mac, Brown/Schoey, Hurn, Shep, Wellingham, Suckling with Butler playing off the bench is pretty handy.

I'm really surprised he hasn't attracted much attention. Probably not too keen on a move to WA but you never know.

Diluting the Selwood compo could be a consideration.
