I agree with others. Jetta I don't think will help us in big games. We won the clearances on Saturday but our clearances were crap. Turned it over and over. Jetta will not help that. He is way too outside. Redden yeah will help and still has 100 -150 games in him. Bennell would have help enormous and I think it's a massive mistake to rule ourselves out of the running.

Lyon has a history of taking risks on ready made players that end up busts: Sylvia and Lovett spring to mind. I reckon he would have ensured due diligence has been done this time.

What about conca? His rep is rock bottom he only got games towards the end of the season... Yarran coming in might make it harder for him to get games.

Conca is a frustrating player. Loves to the carry the ball but is slow, can't hit easy targets. If he came back home he would join Kane Lucas and be a 30 odd possession player in the WAFL with no great impact.

I'm pretty sure if they've said publicly they want to go to to us, rest assured we've already spoken to them.
I'm pretty sure very few players would openly state "I want to go to ????" If it were me, I would get my manager to contact the club and ask if they would be interested. If yes, then OK name the club you prefer.

Not really keen on Jetta, but it feels inevitable that we get him. Redden I don't really have an opinion of. However if we are going to give up our first rounder, what about this...

Out: 17 + colledge
In: redden + 22 (leunberger compo)

Then on trade 22 for Jetta.

hopefully woosh can can offer paddy something to gtfo also.

Surely it would be a medium or small defender. We have tall defenders coming out our wazoo.
Agree with you we are flush with KPD so a medium or small it would be.

Maybe .....Jed Adcock ???? .....,he would be a free hit as his is effectively an unrestricted free agent. Recently said he had been in discussions with one club and he was prepared to move his family anywhere in the country to a Club that would offer him a contract . He also said he thought he had another 2-3 of football left in him .!!!!!

I would like to start this post/review with congratulating the boys on an amazing effort. It was a sour end, though I have enjoyed the ride and couldn’t be happier with the direction we are heading in. Also sorry for the length.

The main reason why I am making this post, is to put things into perspective and stop some melts in this trade thread. The midfield was the area where we were convincingly beaten on the day, but imo we still don’t need any major overhauls. Not sure many notice this but it is an extremely young midfield, approaching the zone of becoming experienced AFL players.

1st onball contingent

Shuey – Our best and most influential player (imo). He only just played 100 games, and that GF will only make him better. So young and so much more to look forward too.

Priddis – Oldest and most experienced of the group, is a rock though has his weaknesses. Don’t see much changing until 2 seasons, will need a replacement soon.

Yeo – When he wasn’t needed down back, he was usually in the starting mix at the bounce. Hasn’t played 100 yet, let alone 15 games in the midfield. So much improvement in him, and it can happen over the preseason if he concentrates on only midfield.

2nd onball

Sheed – less experience then Yeo, although a touch more in the midfield in comparison, and showed a lot of good things. With another preseason, more improvement will come from him. Sounds like I am just repeating here.

Hutchings – underrated on this board, he is behind many other players, though he has a position in this side and is ahead of Selwood, McGinnity, Waterman and Duggan (onball only) etc.

Rotated Player – the likes of Cripps, LeCras or one of the wingers is sometimes here.

I am going to compare them to other midfielder groups game experience, since I feel this is a better gauge on a players experience rather then age. In this example I will be using Gaff as our rotated player.

Hawthorn – Mitchell/Lewis/Hodge & Shiels/Burgoyne/Rioli
Fremantle – Fyfe/Mundy/Neale & Barlow/Hill/de Boer
Sydney – Kennedy/Parker/Jack & Hannebery/Mitchell/McVeigh
Richmond – Cotchin/Martin/Miles & Deledio/Grigg/Edwards
WB – Wallis/Bont/Libba & Macrae/Dahlhaus/Picken
Port – Boak/Gray/Wines & Ebert/Wingard/Ah Chee

Avg Exp.
HAW – 266 & 192
SYD – 148 & 150
RICH –110 & 183
FRE – 139 & 133
PORT – 125 & 90
WC – 124 & 61
WB – 64 & 100

Tried my best to guess the 6, I'm sure there are more that get rotated, and I could also add more teams, but I think you get the gist. I think the point I'm trying to make is we actually don't need to add anything to this mix, since essentially this next season they should be approaching an experienced player status. If we can get Redden and Jetta to this mix with picks then sure I'm happy, almost no changes need to be made, only more games into these players are needed.

Great post, although the guy in your DP probably needs a mention.

Adcock would make sense. Good experience, leader and doesnt have to play every game.

I admit the cupboards a bit empty but i wouldn't discount Whitecross had a horror run with injuries and could fill the same role as Redden at no price to the club. Then we can trade picks for Jetta and still have something come draft time.
He hasn't really played midfield and he's done his knee twice since 2013, but I guess at least he'd be cheaper than Redden.

If Darling or JK go down we don't have anyone to cover him.
McGovern will be playing forward more next season and sinlclair is much improved.
If he is still on our list McInnes could be handy but if he helps us get a decent mid then he is gone
Whether he stays or goes we should draft a kpf this year or next
