Just saying we would have two more midfield options rather than two guys who will take some time to realise a role.

I think we should focus on mids in the second round and use later picks on speculative talls/crumbers
We got mids with our first, third, fourth and fifth picks last year. We've got plenty of midfield options coming through really.

Lamb has a pretty good footballing background/pedigree so I don't think football smarts will be too big of an issue IMO
It's more where he will play... does anyone consider him a viable KPF option? Viable midfield option? I think he'll be a good option as a high half forward, but it'll be interesting to see what his chemistry with Darling is like.

Obviously super early days and still really excited about his potential

West Coast move to stitch up Scott Selwood after Selwood has now returned to full fitness . Selwood has been linked to Geelong as a restricted free agent .

Its understood however that Geelong have links to free agent Pat Dangerfield and uncontracted Carlton forward Lachie Henderson also .

Geelong have links to henderson as a backman not as a forward. I think paddy is going home to geelong. This is the bit that intrigues me about free agency and where it'll take some time to get used to. Geelong could in theory get Dangerfield, Selwood this year and still have a first round draft pick.

I don't know what our cap situation is like but I don't understand why any club with room would not make a play at Dangerfield... Yeah he almost certainly won't come but there's no harm in asking the question.
Do you think we may be able to trick him into thinking Margaret River is really Bells Beach?

I've been to Bells Beach in the middle of Winter.... I've never been to Perth but I already know I'd prefer to be there.

The Geelong Coast is spectacular but mostly cause you know you're just driving through for a few days and you're not stuck there.

Western port bay in august is horrid. 4c for 2 hours, once the warming blanket was taken off me (my body had warmed up just enough to start shaking again) i went to walk and every muscle from my neck down cramped at the same time. Most horrific pain you can imagine.

i think we should be looking at our back yard first with such limited cap space. Is the silence on selwood related to the silence on Mcgovern?
?

Gov loves the place and wouldn't leave after we gave him a chance and then a second when he came back fat. Plus we'd pay him whatever he would want.

While Scooter has ties back here in Vic and I'd like to think we wouldn't be as generous to him as Gov, relatively speaking.

I'm sure they've looked into him, but would quickly realise it's pointless pursuing him.

RE: Gov he may be contracted, but his contract is heavily discounted to market value. WCE trying to tie him up on an improved, longer deal. Him loving the place, owing the club; it's a great romantic notion but we aren't talking tens of thousands of dollars difference. We are tight on cap space and you'd think improved deals for duggan, sheed, cripps, sheppherd, schoey, nelson, sinclair etc in immediate future will make interesting times next few years.

If he isn't extended by year end i'd start to get worried, having one of best players out of contract within the year with lots of cashed up clubs screaming for a KPP, and not all interstate is alarms bells to me.

There aren't many that are well off. Granted each club has to stick to their salary cap.

Haven't we already paid Gov extra this year on top of his contract ? To do this we must have held back money on our cap . Up to $500000 a year can be rolled over . Gov is contracted and I think west coast would like to see what happens trade week and keep cap space just in case a coniglio , jetta , yarran become available . Would suck if we could snag 2 of them but only have cap space for one because of front loaded contracts .

Disagree on that one. In less than 12 months we have Cox and Glass out plus Waters off after this year so we would of released a fair amount. Yes we have paid out more for Nicnat and Jack but I suggest we have money to play with. I would think that none of Sinclair, McInness, Cripps, Butler and Hill were expensive and we would (or should) not to have paid Priddis much more just because of winning Charlie. Sheppard and Masten need no salary increase as the risk of flight is low. By AFL rules we cannot pay any player in the first 2 years any more than the standard so no change in 2016 for Duggan or Nelson and Sheed will get another deal but he is solid only, demanding under $200k. You can afford to lengthen and up the out years with Duggan and co as in 2 years time we will either say goodbye to Priddis and LeCras or have them paid much less.

I would of said prior to the last 2 months that we will free up space with Wellingham but he is probably earning his $325k (or something like that) Suspect Yeo was fair but not high and he can expect +++$ if his form continues in the second half.

The likely de-list candidates are not expensive in Main, Karpony, Tunbridge, McSpud so that will not free up much.

According to an article in the west the Eagles increased the value of this contract.

why would you say wce are tight on cap space , We`ve lost Cox and Glass two of the highest paid players last year and Waters deal would still be extra cash for next year .
