Lycett plus our first for Bennell is probably a little overs. We'd need a 2nd round upgrade or something in that deal IMO.

Lycett still has value. But it's dropping considerably with each game he sits in the WAFL.
He's happy in Perth. You also need more than one genuine ruck on your list which is why lycett is so important when you are firmly in your window

He won't be moved on IMO

550k-600k, 4 years. with that kind of contract and at the age of 27, that would be enough for first round compo wouldn't it?
No one is paying that kind of money for suckling ! Apart from his kicking ( which has been hit and miss this year ) what does he offer . He isn't a very accountable defender and doesn't win his own ball . Maybe $350000- $400000 per year I would think .
It's not like he is a gun mid or KPP who would command 500k-600k .
Suckling getting first round compo is way more ridiculous than even frawley who had the afl helping them .

There is no getable Free Agent that suits our needs.

Keep building through the draft.

Not interested in Suckling tbh.

We have the following players that provide rebound from the back half -

Sheppard,Hurn,Wellingham,McGovern,Ellis,Butler and now Rosa.

I don't think he's a significant upgrade on any of those guys.

When is the last time he played in the WAFL? Not on injury list. Seems to have done a vanishing act.
Got a bad corked thigh 2 or 3 weeks ago but still kicked 4 goals by not moving from the goal square.
Form was a bit disappointing earlier this year but he showed enough last year to impress.
Don't know if he is still out with the thigh though.
Hope he can force Sinclair out in the second half of this season and hold the spot

He's a better player than Sinclair, just needed a kick up the ass. And maybe a bit less weight on his body.

No trades for us, please (other than accommodating Selwood if he wants to go!)

Wearing my Lycett sponsorship hat here, admittedly, but: trading Lycett is just silly. He's had a bad start to the season, no doubt, but he's also a very young developing ruckman. Even if we opted to trade him, we'd be mad do so at this low trough in his value.

I think we should again only be looking at the draft at the end of the season, with minimal changes to the list. For me with Waters retired, would like McGinnity cut from the list. Possibly one more player but I'm not sure who else is out of contract this season, head into the draft with 3 picks since the talk is a shallow draft. Keep developing the players we have, hopefully have a fit McKenzie and things are coming up Milhouse

Agree with this... We gave Lycett a 4 year deal last year, which says the club sees him as a long term investment, he will not be traded. If there is a trade it will more likely be one of Schofield/Brown/Sinclair, especially if Barrass has a good second half of the season. (Schofield playing KPD very well at the moment and I hope he isn't on the table) (Sinclair playing in the side would inflate his value?)

EDIT: Thinking behind Sinclair being on the table is based on if we draft a young ruckman next season

I'm still very much on the get Coniglio wagon. I hate to say it though, if we end up with pick 14/15 it would be unders.

Listening to On The Coach yesterday, they mentioned the lack of support for Joel Selwood at Geelong which is why they are so keen on Dangerfield and Scooter. Not sure how connected they are but it sounds like we can expect a serious bid for Scooter. If we lost Scooter, Hutch is in a similar mould so would be able to cover.

The change in the midfield for us has happened very fast. What are we lacking now? Maybe a fast forward. A crumber. What else?

Talked with a couple of BF posters - there is some support for Yarran as he has what we need (line breaking speed) and if we were to use the compo pick from Scooter for Yarran, it would IMHO make us a better team. A fellow poster's view is that we don't get petty and late 1st round or early second round means very little. Negotiating too hard and you run the risk of it not being done.

The only player I would chase if available would be an Issac Smith type but that would be a pipe dream.

Last year we were meant to be keen on Brendan Abbott from Albany / Claremont well he kicked six goals in Collingwood's VFL team last weekend ....you cant have them all in a good draft for West Coast , but hope he does well .

Exactly. You don't move on 22 year-old ruckmen, particularly ones that have shown as much as Lycett. He's still 3 years away from being assessed fairly.
