Also because of the COLA deal Sydney can't trade in a player that is paid above their average salary of about $300k. Shame cause they need defenders and Brown for Jetta might work but Brown would deserve more $$ than that.

Jetta is ok. Rather Yarran or Cogs.

Interesting to hear the rumors about Selwood already.
Jetta was sensational running through the middle a couple of weeks back 30 touches , breaking the lines and hitting every target by foot all night even when it was ridiculously hard .
Never seen yarran play like that .
Bang for buck jetta is our man . Try pick up yarran next year as a free agent .
If we could add coniglio and jetta it would be a massive trade period

From what I understand if Selwood is a restricted free agent and we choose to match geelongs offer we essentially force them to the trade table if Selwood really wants out and they really want him. Geelongs first pick would get Coniglio done.

This is the exact scenario that Adelaide are facing with Dangerfield. Evidently they think they have the money to match geelongs offer.

We won't get Geelongs first pick for Selwood..

Former best and fairest, 120 game 25 year old isn't worth pick 12?
In his current form with the amount of footy he has played in the past 18 months and the type of player he is no i don't think he is worth pick 12. Also Adelaide may match Danger which means they need picks for him as well

His two best games have been against Carlton and Gold Coast. Let's not over-rate his performance, he does tend to go missing when it counts.

Scotty's a free agent, so Geelong won't have to give any pick for him, but we'll probably get compo pick for him, possibly 2nd round.
See above..

Which means we can match any offer
Surely we won't do that? If Scotty wants to leave, who are we to stop him? :p

So that means we have to weigh up whether we can get a better deal from Geelong or from the AFL in the form of a compo pick by not matching the offer?

Or he wants to stay and accepts an offer we think he is worth..

But yes we can match if we want to trade him (if requested)

I think the compo/trade would be pretty similar to be honest..

Let's do a role reversal

Say he was playing for Geelong and he was under contract and wanted to come to WCE.

What would you offer Geelong to secure him?

If it was up to me, I'd rate him at depth value at best. I wouldn't be keen on the deal at all. Mid to late 3rd rounder?

We would be driving up to HQ central with Pichforks if our club offered up pick 12.
