As I've stated on multiple threads i believe he's worth a 3rd round and a swapping of 2nd rd picks.
If saints or any club pay more than that their delusional
If any supporter from any club believes he's worth more than that then imo they're delusional also

If i can be bothered I'll respond to joffa later in a respectful accurate factual way
Taking all emotion out of it - that seems fair. The best trades are when both clubs walk away with something, (that is why Hawthorn is usually good to deal with from what I've heard).....

Just curious because I don't watch a lot of St.Kilda matches so I have no proper judgement on how highly/lowly he's rated.

Given it's looking like Freeman will be swapped for your second pick which is being described as us "losing" (not sure how given that's the only other pick outside your first one which would never be an option), would this be an acceptable possibility?

Freeman plus our second pick for Your second pick and Lonie? Or even just Lonie?

Again, just asking because I just went through your list on the Saints website to see if I could come up with a young player who wasn't a super high draft pick that has room to develop.
Lonie is the 2014 draft Montagna was rated top 20 internally

The most important month of the year is almost upon us.

We've been discussing hypotheticals, rumours and desirable trades for the best part of 12 months.

We've had reliable contributors BrianSpeaking, stavro#4 and Moorabbin Ghost providing us with an insight which has fuelled a barrage of posts during times of drought.

Unfortunately for me, I booked a trip to Oktoberfest and Europe during what could be a hugely defining period for the club in its next tilt. I will no longer be able to follow the thread with the same vigour and addiction that I have over past year.

Here's hoping by the time I get back to Australia, we've landed Carlisle and Freeman for peanuts, kept Pick 5 and set ourselves up for a massive assault in 2016.

In Bains and Trout, we trust.

Kudos to the quality Pies posters that still stop by despite a few members from your board being.... fairly.... sinister and deluded... kind of making it hard to get a decent convo going from our end.

Hope you ignore any shiite banter from us and continue to post.

Think toxic's trade scenarios in relation to Freeman are more than fair, especially if our medical team have confidence in his health.

Pies will play hardball for sure, and that's the sign of a club who is ruthless and wants to be the best no matter what. I'd want our club to do the same.

It is a joke though how much this kid is being vilified from every angle in the media, from "icons" of the game none the less. Meanwhile, Treloar, Danger, etc, are all saints (not with a capital S, unfortunately). Australian media are a gutless, piggy-backing, boys club, who are too busy telling each other how right they are, as appose to showing thought, character, intelligence and a bit of a bloody back bone.

Heard Pelchen on the radio today. I don't like the guy but he made a good point. If a club really wants a player they just need to get him no matter what the cost. Well within reason I suppose. He was talking about Carlisle to the saints and said he is exactly what we need and we just need to get him. I feel the same way. If he is what we want as it seems going by what the club has said we just need to pay for him even if Essendon are pricks to deal with. We know we are getting a proven young KPP instead of a mid who has never played a game of AFL. We know we are getting just about 10 years out of this guy compared to maybe or maybe not 10 years out of the unnamed mid. I say we trade our pick 5 for him and ask for Essendons second pick in return. That will then get us Freeman and we still have our second rounder for a young mid. I think this gamble has an excellent chance of a good return.

You know what I might even do a list for you to take back there. These guys are basically untouchable:

Billings
McCartin
Bruce
Goddard
Acres
Dunstan
Armitage
Lonie
Sinclair
Steven
Roberton
Savage
Newnes
Longer
Webster
McKenzie

Basically anyone that's seen as a future best 22.
I reckon any of the bolded are tradeable, at the right price (not taking current contracts into account)
If you ever want to trade in someone good, you need to trade out someone rated best 22

Depending on how he goes next season, I reckon I could add Dunstan to that bolded list

Declaring all of those guys untouchable I reckon is a tad optimistic

I'm actually not bad at texas holdem. I'm not saying we start at pick 5 but we don't just say its pick 28 or nothing just to prove we are tough to deal with. That is Essendon problem in the first place and that is why bugger all clubs want to deal with them. If we want Carlisle sometimes you just have to pay more than you originally offer.

Hmm I am definitely hoping we are holding onto pick 5. Seb ross and a second is overs and I would only go as far as that

Correct. Like all other team boards we are extremely biased on our trade hypotheticals. The above is realistic.

You give up far too easy. We firstly need him to nominate us, if he doesn't we are no chance. Pick 5 or not

Roberton and Newnes are gold and would be much higher rated if at another club. Longer is behind Grundy as the best young ruck watch the schneiderman video and tell me you want to trade him

Id trade Longer if it meant getting Carlisle for just him. I don't rate tap ruckman who cant get the ball around the ground though. It seems plenty do.

Christ surely not. Longer is a kid who hasn't even grown into a man. When he does he will be dominant. We have an advantage over the next few years were Hickey and longer are both good Ruckman and I believe we will play both with a 4 man bench. Massive advantage over the comp

Well this is where I disagree. The days of 2 ruckman who cannot play forward are over no matter if its a 4 man beach and 90 interchanges or 20 interchanges. The game will become a game with less and less talls who cannot get up and down the ground. I wish we rucked Hickey myself. Think he is ideal in todays footy. Longer seems like a person from the past. Obviously the club think differently to me.
