Please just take the deal, for all our sakes.

I can't stand contemplating a Hawks four-peat
Freo just got a top 5 player for a packet of chips yesterday, and probably McCarthy later this week also. They are a bigger worry right now than Hawthorn. But the AFL is going to shit right now. Read a stat the other day that only five teams have won the flag since 2004? The same teams are winning the flag because the competition is not equal. Something has to be done.

Planting my flag here, but:

1. Carlisle has said nothing publicly yet, so no point in flogging him for character flaws until he does and it's 'I'm off to Hawthorn'.

2. If he goes, he does. We shouldn't be held to ransom by him, the media or Dodoro.

3. We can still turn 5 into two picks and grab someone like Collins, or a Skinner type late.

4. IF he turns his back on his own very strongly worded comments - the only direct quotes from him BTW - then we probably didn't want him around our club.

5. Ameet and Trout are widely acknowledged as one of the best teams in the business. I'll trust them.

6. Jay Clark is one of the most shameless EFC mouthpieces around, second only to Slobbo, so take what he says with a grain of salt.

just been on nab trade radio defending our decision to keep pick 5, listed all his problems and yet terry wallace says if the hawks think he's worth 2 first rounders (15/18) then he must be worth 2 first rounders, pretty sure every club in the afl would love to trade 15 and 18 for pick 5, then has a go at delaney saying he's not up to it and bags him out after i suggest he can still play a role for us, the guy finished 3rd in our best and fairest last year haha like geez

Barrett "too scared to use pick 5"
You bloody tool Barrett.

"Ohhhh I have big balls take all our draft picks for a bag of spuds cos i'm brave".

I much prefer , in any auction, to determine what I am prepared to pay and stick to it.
Winning an auction means you are willing to pay more than any other idiot is willing to pay.

This whole deal from the start had real stench about it .He never seemed to have any passion about coming to us , his manager was ruthless in clubs bidding aginst our offer which wewas what they asked for from day 1 .
If he goes ,and I think he wil,l he is not the type of guy we want with our young kids .I just hope now that we move on really quickly and perhaps land someone else with afew morals and wants to pay for the jumper not just the money .
Whatever happens from here, this 1 trade will change the way every trade from now on will be conducted for the whole competition.

No more of this players nominating which club they want to go to... without signing something binding.

If he backflips, jake has let the genie out of the bottle and every club will be looking to protect themselves from the whims of morally deficient players in the future.

Feeling like we've just taken back the freakin awesome looking 2nd hand Shelby Cobra we were in love with and about to fork out a fortune for.
Throwing the keys at the salesman we walk away without looking back and get into our 97 Commodore thanking our lucky stars cos our mechanic discovered it was a cut n shut job and had been written off by the insurance company.

We'll move on quickly if it falls through and stay true to the rebuild plan.

Stay strong peeps!

Go Saints!

Exactly. Nothing scared about backing yourself in to make a good decision with a top 10 pick.

It doesn't make us look stupid at all. If it's true what Carlisle has reportedly said, then we'll be dodging a massive bullet.
Sorry for the intrusion. Just said on the Carlton board we dodged a massive bullet and Carlisle is like your worst nightmare right now.

How does a player hate his old club, narrow it down to two clubs, choose one then tell the club he wants to join that if they don't pay overs he will take off to the Hawks instead of risking joining his second choice club through the PSD. I know you need him, and let's face it so did the Blues but he is playing everybody.

Neither Carlton or St Kilda are looking for flags next year anyway. Let the other clubs worry about Hawthorn getting him. Your rebuild is going fantastically without selling the farm for Carlisle. It's not like he is one of the top players in the comp, just a really strong option in an area of need.

Really hope the Saints tell him to GAGF if this is coming from Carlisle. Might be a bit tense getting him under these circumstances. Think he has had his head turned and is secretly hoping you bow out anyway.

Very weird turn of events.

I'm inclined to agree.
