No no i definitely didnt mean that. Poor choice of words from me. Knightmare certainly isnt the be all and end all. I guess I am just trying to say that if we dont get Parish, it may not be the end of the world. It seems Saints fans have their heart set on him. So if he goes at pick 4, some will be disappointed. But at this stage anything could happen. We could be shunted down the draft order a few spots. Maybe we need a Plan B and a Plan C. It seems Parish is our Plan A but that may not work out. So I am keen to discuss alternative strategies.
If we use that selection in the draft and haven't traded it, I'd predict we'd go Parish or Francis if by some chance they are available. If not, then Matho, Tucker or Curnow at our pick. I would assume Mills and Hopper are gone, and Kennedy/Keays from the academies could be argued are in that same group as the last three depending on how we rate them.

You are right though, it wouldn't be a disaster, but if the draft pans out like Weitering, Schache, Francis, Parish - all of the fanfare yesterday about moving from pick 6 to 5 was really not all it was made out to be and we'd still have to figure out a plan B.

Just to clear something up, I have no inside word on whether Sippos will be resigned.
His last few weeks in the vfl since coming back from injury he has been quite good, and i wouldn't be surprised.

We could always trade him to carlton or essendon for a 3rd Round pick
He's a player in the age group at the club where he should be at his peak (27) when we are competing for the next premiership. It's seems a waste to be casting off players like that. Sure he's not elite yet, but not many are at 22.

He's shown more than Acres for one.

I don't hear calls for Acres to get the chop.
Acres is 2 years younger and has been injured also but still managed a 20 possession game already and 91 super coach points in a game. Murdoch is a nice guy but his stats are worrying to me. He just doesn't get enough ball to me. I think he still has potential but he'd want to get moving. Acres was also a higher pick so will probably get more opportunity as clubs want to believe they made a good choice and try to justify it by giving them opportunity.

Just on Acres: I noticed that he has only played seven games, and in three or four of those I think he was either subbed on or subbed off, so he has probably only had about four or five full games worth of AFL experience so far. But even in his short cameo of a career he has impressed me with a few freakish pieces of play. A couple of times I saw him holding the the ball out in front of him and actually running into a pack of players, rather than what most players choose to do which is the 'bail-out' handball, and he somehow weaved his way through the pack and out the other side with the ball still in his hands. I think that when people compare him to Pendlebury, it's that particular party trick they are seeing from Acres that leads to the comparison. Very few players seem capable of doing it (Robert Harvey and Keith Greig come to mind) and in this age of defensive pressure it is a real weapon so I am very confident that Acres is going to be a very good to elite player in a year or two from now.

If we nominate Keays at pick 5 (1878 points) they need to match that -20%. So they need 15002 points to get him.

Pick 20 - 912
Pick 38- 465
Pick 56 - 194
Total = 1571

So yes. I am wrong! They can still get him if we nominate him at 5....... just.

So we should nominate him anyway - to knock them out of the way at pick 20. This will put us up one place in the 20s.
Gold Coast have a compensation pick at the end of round 1. Taking this into account, they still get him... by 4 points. Even if they couldn't afford him, I'd be willing to bet they'd go into debt for next year by whatever miniscule amount it is.

Yep. It's an interesting question as to whether Brisbane goes the whole hog and takes all its academy picks this year, then into points debt next year, or keeps its 2016 draft stocks open. Not to mention the trading of Aish and Leuenberger might have a say.

talk of trading pearce I think is wrong as ruckman
are to hard to find, he was always a long term apprentice.
holmes may make it, or he may not, fair chance he may not,
playing bruce in the ruck is imo is a bad option, with fifty goals
he is a forward, and that's where he should be played.
that leaves hickey and longer left, so our ruck strength is not over strong.
bruce game dropped off when he had to spend time in the ruck.

Didn't John Anthony kick 50 goals one season?

LOL

What a nothing story.

And in all honesty, a lot of bouncers deserve more than just a ciggy slapped out of their hand.
in isolation yeh sure... but unfortunately its a common occurrence

this quote is extremely worrying:
A club spokesman told the Bulletin: “The club has just been informed of the matter. It hasn’t received any information from Bennell. We are trying to make contact with him.”

I cant argue with that stat, I think bruce is a hell of a better player then that spud, fifty goals is pretty good from a backman and he would have had a lot more with good disposal, im hoping for a settled forward line of bruce paddy and members with billing lonie and Sinclair mopping up, roll on next year.
