I love your enthusiasm in theory, and if either of those players would be guaranteed to come to our club next year, I would be blown away, but at the moment they are in contract, and the only one who is not is Carlisle.

I don't think we can afford to take the risk, on missing out on him, if he chooses us.

With regards to his salary, this administration is the best that we have had in a long time, and hopefully can get him for the right price.
I agree with you here. You cant just sit around and pray that a perfect type of character/player will nominate us next year and all will be rosy.

As you can see carlisle hasnt even come out and said im willing to go to st kilda over a club like carlton who are in the shiteee..

The bigger clubs will always have pulling power over us such as the pies because players actually nominate them which puts every other club out of the race pretty much even if they were looking at him.

We need to take what we can in this trade period as there is a 8 year AA quality CHB available and then worry about what comes next year.

I trust the recruiters to do the right thing. We need to get the spine built first then add the soldiers later. Steven and Armo are a nice platform to build around and 2 more top line players will really round us out in the middle. Sydney really built around a spine and so did Hawthorn. Geelong probably did it the other way around and had so many capable field players the spine was less than some other teams. The fact he plays both ends capably as does Bruce and goddard make us a very adaptable spine too. If one is having a bad day you can switch them up and throw a struggling back up forward.

That's only reports still. But they're saying its expected today. Sloane is speaking at a presser right now and still said (even though they probably know) that they haven't heard anything. But yes, I would say he's gone.
It will be interesting to see where he gets Geelong, is it enough to revitalise them or is it going to have them middling for longer? Geelong had one of the best list management records in the business for years. They seem to be making more desperate grabs lately as their core rots away. If he prolongs the Brisbane like mediocrity after such a dominant period it might be a long wait between drinks for the Cats. I don't mind a short sharp pain for a quick reload if it slingshots us back up.

Finals positions I thought... But I could be wrong. So in that case, If North lose this week then they've gone from pick 11 to pick 15. Get in the GF and they have pick 17 (but a shot at a flag).
So if freo lose they will get 16 instead of 18, that may be a bit more attractive to possibly dealings for Weller eg 5 for Weller + 16 then ontrade to essendon for carlisle

If it's the way it works. Which it should be IMO but I'm actually not sure! In 2009 when we finished on top but lost GF did we pick before or after Geelong? That should answer your question.

I can see Linen House as being our undoing in relation to Carlisle.

Not so bad if players are coming from interstate and setting up from scratch but for already established players its a turnoff.

I would be amazed (and filthy) if we gave up pick 5 for Carlisle. The fact is, as much as we like him we won't pay overs.

I admit I'd even be a bit flat if we roll 5 into another couple of mid teen picks and use one of them on Carlisle, but I'd accept that. Our recruiters have done an amazing job over the last few years and I back them in to deliver us the best possible outcome. They won't let desperation to land a big fish convince them sell the farm.

Also, I don't want the injectors having 4 and 5. They are in a rebuild like us, albeit they are a fair bit behind us. We will be competing against them for finals in a few years and I don't want to give them a leg up in any way.

2nd rounder this year and next. Or 2nd rounder this year and Ross. Take it or leave it; and we will trade for pick 1 and just grab weitering!!

Yeah it will be interesting.... They're losing some quality but Henderson & Dangerfield will both add a bit of quality. They've kept Motlop and their young kids will develop. Hopefully they've planned their veteran exodus and rookie development better than we did a few years ago.... They may just do a Sydney and not have to bottom out before rising again. 2016 will be interesting.

Disagree. For a start he is at that he'll hole at Tulla currently. Seaford is for only another year then Moorabbin

So in short terms we will always be the little brother club who will have to pay overs to attract playerS. I cant accept that. 5 is too high. Let him walk

Anyone interested in Lennon?? 5 for Lennon + 12 (hes mates with billings apparently)
I know he has been tossed about in the deal with Yarran to carlton
Bloody oath, then shoot the bombers 12 for Carlisle.

Pick 5 for Lennon & Carlisle is a massive win. Make no mistake, Ben Lennon can ******* play.
