I hope we are as ruthless on the trade table this off season as we are with the players.

You want a contracted Jack Redden, negotiation starts at first rounder +.

You want Aish, negotiation starts at first rounder (2015 or 2016) - bear minimum.

otherwise - **** you and **** your club, piss off from the trade table until you have something useful to talk about.

After what Aish us put us through the last 12 months, we shouldn't be in a mood to do him any favors. Let bloody Pickering sweat, even if it means we get nothing in return.

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/jack-watts-dropped-again-by-melbourne-20150904-gjfkwb.html

Reasons:
1) Fair trade as in exchange both 1st round selections by present clubs.
2) neither have set the world on fire at respected clubs...and ...3) They need a Utility...We need a forward.......

Sit back and wait for this one to happen... Let the games begin!!!! Enjoy

Ahh the Mockingbird!!
I'll take their 2016 first pick for Aish + something in return.

No thanks to Jack Watts, seen enough of him - he'll do our head in and is not the answer. Jack Watts had the mature body this season and he even threw his weight around during tackles and contested footy in the first few rounds. Went back into his shell soon after, it's a lot harder to coach him out of the bad habits that he's developed in the first few years in Melbourne. Howe and Watts are in the same bracket, they could get games without having to push themselves much (Melbourne's list) and that's where the problem lies.

Melbourne will look at offloading him, let's not jump the gun and give them Aish in return. (Carlton fans still point out, Fevola was about to be delisted but we came in with pick 12+Henderson. Steal ! )

Exactly.....I wasn't suggesting that the 2 were going to happen... I'm over the speculation that said player is a lock for said player at this club...And worst of all trade week is 5 weeks away.......So instead of having to read the same endless depressing dribble vomit that are nothing more than trade rumours like Seedsman for Aish, that screw us over and seem to be taken as authority of already being inked..I'm encouraging the good people here to start their own ...a mock up...let's have a bit of fun....I'd much prefer to read BS from the creative minds of Lion supporters during this depressing time....Anyone can make crap up to make it a bit harder link 2 unrelated newspaper articles as a Big Footy trade to us and give obvious reasons why....Name it the "Hunger Games" and had a "Mockingbird" down the bottom..want to see if any make the media..

Where has this come from? This board needs to stop dealing in rumours. We are probably the "source" of half the rubbish coming out in columns.

One thing that surprises me is the number of people, and this is not aimed at Fitz Roy in particular, who, when a player or two isn't happy with the coach, automatically come down on the side of the player and assume the coach has the problem, has no people skills, is too confrontational, etc. I would sooner see half the team leave than sack a coach (who is widely respected in the AFL, at the Lions and at his former club) because a few players don't like him - damn the torpedoes.

Maybe i am overly optimistic as I am a red head myself and Leppa has always been my favourite since he came through as a youngster - but I'd like to think that Rockliff and Leppitsch (with Leigh's support) are trying to drive a fundamental culture shift at the club and anyone who it puts offside is collateral damage to our cause.
Hear, hear. Not dissimilar to the talk surrounding Buckley's culture cleanout.

Motlop has apparantley re-signed. If they pick up Dangerfield, Selwood, Henderson and maybe a ruckman they could be top 4.

I'm guessing they would have kept Stevie J if they could afford him.

I don't follow them, but he always looks like a player that will develop nicely to me. Crisp certainly wasn't cemented either and he has flourished.
Not knocking either player, I just think Seedsman has been a little under-valued on this board.
I don't think a 4th rounder will get it done. It is possible that he might head your way as part of a mega deal that involves a few clubs and picks but a straight out 4th rounder would not get Seedsman to the Lions. That is just my opinion.

History will tell you mega deals are too hard to get over the line...

I don't have any doubt that the club will take a much tougher stance when it comes to trading this year. We won't be giving up any players on the cheap with Leigh at the club IMO.
Agreed. If a long serving player like Adcock is not being offered a contract from a list balance perspective, I don't care what happens to campaigners like Aish who have wilfully held us for ransom in negotiations.

I'd support the club to complete all other trades and go to "making up their mind" till the last day for the Aish trade. Even if it means we lose out or get nothing, so be it. What goes around, comes around - **** him.

Good thing you're not the list manager then
i think that is an excellent deal for us if we want picks. Redden and Aish would be lucky for us to get pick 20... I'd take pick 4 over 2 pick 20s everyday of the week and twice on draft day. We will have enough picks for Academy prospects if Berger leaves anyway.

Top 10 picks is a huge deficiency on our list. Would you honestly rather picks 19 and 20 for both? I think every club in the league would trade picks 19 and 20 for pick 5 and picks 19 and 20 are probably the best we can except for Reddo and Aish individually.

I'd rather two mid-first round picks which is what they're worth.

If Pick 19 is the best we can get for a contracted player like Redden, we're better off holding him for a year and getting an end of first round pick as compensation through free agency anyway. Lol. Delusional stuff.

Melbourne could do worse than brining in a 100+ gamer and a good young talent with great personal qualities. It's a trade I could see them do TBH. Allows us to grab an A grade young talent to add to Schache and academy prospects.

Pick 19 is an end of first round draft selection so why wait a year and hold onto a disgruntled player. And we aren't going to get a mid-first round pick for Aish I am afraid. I personally don't think the Demons would agree to such a trade but that wasn't the point I was making. The point I was making was that it would be a good deal for the Lions and if you don't believe so that is fine.

Why? Because we literally lose nothing draft pick wise if we wait a year. Plus it's an extra year to convince him to stay. We should only be trading Redden if we get a very good offer - we don't have to offload him or risk getting nothing.

Demons would do that trade in a heartbeat. Any club would...because it's a terrible deal for us and a great deal for whoever only gives away Pick 5....

I think you overrate the value Redden and Aish on the open market. I am going to solely focus on watching the Lions game now enjoy the rest of your afternoon.

I think you know little about the game of football. Pick 10-13 is right in the range for what we should be getting for a contracted B+ Grade midfield player with A-Grade potential who can be convinced to stay over the next 12 months (Equivalent of WCE first round pick + something else). Aish is a first round pick, obviously we're not getting Pick #7 for him, but we should be getting first round pick back for him, not essentially a 2nd round pick.

I'd at least consider aish and redden for pick 5. for those saying keep redden, what happens next year at round 1@ when he is still adamant he won't resign and we are out of finals contention what happens to redden? do we bench him and play people who will be at the club in 2017 only to decrease his trade/fa value? If we get offered fair value well trade.

Sizematters I agree on Stevie J. I think this year we have to consider ourselves bottomed out and start looking to build next year. 2016 6-10 wins, 2017 8-12 wins 2018 finals etc. If getting Stevie j for two years as a specialist forward capable of 30+ goals in a team devoid of regular goalkickers was possible it'd be worth it IMO. although I expect he'll want to go to a successful club for a shot at a last chance at a premiership and to learn another successful culture to advance his coaching credibility ( sydney, freo could use his goal kicking and he'd love to learn from Clarkson at hawthorn).

On Sen this morning Robbo mentioned this as how he saw the sydney trade issue playing out. 'Sydney gets allowed to sign players up to $500,000, they sign leuenberger for that much, brisbane gets pick 2 as compensation, afl is happy with the end outcome'

Btw, watching Seedsman on tv at the moment playing vfl finals.
