that could be the most costly win ever. Lions go to pick 2 in the draft. Kruezer leaves for band 1 compo and Carlton then snap up weitering and Scache in the draft and we miss out on the key player we need. Would be an absolute debacle

Guess we will have to wait and see how it all plays out, however I can't help but feel you may well be correct....

I thought you were gonna mention how Carlton won the 'Kreuzer Cup' and ended up drafting an injury prone ruckman instead of an elite midfielder who went at pick 2.

Ok getting a bit ahead of myself here but lets look at the following scenario. Lets say Kruezer and Burger both leave and we both got band 1 compensation . So carlton gets pick 1 & 2 and Lions pick 3 and 4 . What about the scenario we offer to to trade pick 4 and aish as a package for pick 2. We would then get Scache and Francis ( They would then get aish, weitering and probably a darcy parish ) Win win all round from current situation. That being said if we had of come last we would of been all the ones holding the cards especially now that aish could go into pre season for nothing.

Can't see us getting better than end of first round for Leuey though.

why would carlton get better for kruezer then? similar age , kruezer prob had more injuries would you want to be punting on him for a few millions bucks over 4 years

Reality is Schache could turn out to a Tom Boyd situation, we never know. I'll celebrate the win and see where the draft leaves us.

Leuenberger is without a doubt the better ruckman. Baring the inside 50 marks and goals, Leuy has him covered or beaten in every other skill set. You'd be doing it tough to suggest Kreuzer = pick 2 and at the same time Leuenberger = pick 22.

I reckon I would rather Kreuzer if I was another club.

These are pretty strong selling points for a ruckman.

Wouldn't be so sure. I had a source tell me a while ago and I posted on here somewhere that Aish was only really considering Pies or Dees and if no trade eventuated than Crows would be his next choice. A lot could have changed since then but with news that Pies will be using any currency for Treloar he may get to Melbourne.

As your main ruckman? I am not so sure...
Kreuzer's best two full season averages are:
2012 (20 games) - 12 disposals, 3 marks, 22 hitouts a game.
2013 (17 games) 12 disposals, 3 marks, 25 hitouts a game.

Leuenberger on the other hand:
2011 (22 games) - 16 disposals, 4 marks & 33 hitouts a game.
2013 (20 games) - 14 disposals, 4 marks & 30 hitouts a game.

These are pretty strong selling points for a ruckman.
But when your factor in their actual rucking ability though, I'd argue they break even or even put Leuy ahead.

With the way the game is going even prime rucks will have to spend time forward. Berger is absolutely useless up front yet only marginally better than Kruezer as a ruck. Looking at their overall game I'd take Kreuzer. But both will offer a cheap option (in terms of picks) for any team needing a ruck. The only difference is that you'd have to pay IMO a bigger cheque for Kruzer as he doesn't need or want to leave Blues whereas Berger is definitely gone and just wants to play as the prime ruck again.

Leuy may be pretty average playing as a key forward, but as the main ruckman in the forward line (i.e. not being marked by the best KPD), he is actually above average. He just hasn't gotten the chance in recent times.

If Frawley can have his value judged on form 5 years prior (his AA year), then we should also expect the same for Leuy.
