Have to agree - poor Vossy was shafted in favour of a more experienced senior coach and the club promised a thorough and robust process and we ended up appointing another ex-player.... we all love this club but some of the decision making that comes out of the club is just weird (yes different administration but seriously could have been handled better)
Voss was disliked across the club , in particular the young players whom he refused to play, and haa carried on his great form. done a great job with ports midfield this year... He is a good bloke, great player, average coach!!

Yep, not sure why we bother beating our chest when we ultimately give in and accept such a crap pick.

No doubt we'll bend over on the Aish situation too.
I feel like here's a difference between the Aish situation and the Leuey one.

Swann has said:

"He can't play on here in the position he wants to play, so we were happy for him to explore other options - although we still would have expected better compensation for him," said Swann.

"At the end of the day we want to make sure things work out for him, given his service to the Club, and we wish him all the best in the future."
I think it's worth distinguishing between the 2.

We now have 2, 17, 21, 39 and 42 with 3 picks later (which one will probably be used on Jansen). What happens if one of Hipwood or Keayes slides and we can pick up another decent youngster such as Oli Clayton with 21. Then use 24 or 26 from Aish for the other deals that need to get done on Bell. I feel like giving up 17 so we can get 32 to get Bell is just a bit silly. Surely if we can turn Aish into Astbury and Bell then its not so bad and manage to keep 17 and 21
No is saying we trade down to get Bell. Having the following picks actually gives us flexibility and allows us to plan a strategy of attack during trade period. Plus there is no chance both Keays and Hipwood sliding past pick 17. I hope Oliver slides to us.

E.g. Pick 2, 21, 24, 26, 27, 32, 39, 40, 57, 75.

Weren't you of the view that the club should match the contract offer?
Initially in the 10 minutes after the compo was announced, BUT I was under the impression at the time that if we matched, Essendon had to trade or he stayed with us. Once I realised he remained an uncontracted player if we matched and free to enter the draft, I changed my tune because there is absolutely nothing to gain strategically.

Should have matched, bent over again.......
We match, Leuey says no and goes to the PSD.

Carlton 1 dont need him
Bris wont take him because that is just screwing him around
GC are getting rid of a ruckman
He ends up landing at Essendon anyway and we get nothing.

Pragmatic decision was made to accept, doesnt mean we have to like it.

But you want us to roll over on Aish and the Drafts - you have posted the point umpteen times already and there is no way the club will send Leuey to the PSD...pointless bleating.
umm narr actually sorry, your'e incorrect about this.

I want/ wanted us to step straight up and say "James has chosen to leave our club, 9 or the 10 other young guys we have bought in since retention has been a focus are signed on and love the club, brisbane is a great club and a great place to play football - we wish James all the best and we will be activly seeking the best trade for him from Monday at 9am, we will be seeking VERY good compensation from DCollingwood if that is where he chooses to go, the PSD draft is an option if they don't satisfy our requests"

Not... play hard ass, talk hard ass, stagnate in our negotiations because we don't have the pieces required to finish some very attractive trades, all to then roll over on our stance anyway.

But yeah If we are going to roll over, I would prefer it be now so we can get moving with our trade period.

So whilst you jumped at the chance to incorrectly connect the dots, my position is actually pretty rock solid on this, I think the stance is pointless, and rolling over at the end of it makes it worse and makes us look even worse than we already do ATM.

Me as a paying member, i was told Jed was shown the door because of our youth policy. Don't know what you were told. Why then go out and say you are actively looking at Stevie J. It was disrespectful and Jed deserved better than that.
Greg Swann said this at the time;
Lions CEO Greg Swann praised Adcock’s contribution to the club and said Brisbane was focused on getting games into its young players.

“We are going down a youth path. Our list will only get younger,” Swann said.

“There’s no doubt Jed has been a valuable player to the club.
“In discussions with the club we indicated he was free to explore other opportunities as it may be difficult for him to command a place in our best 22.”
You're really clutching at straws and twisting words Big Lion.

As for Leuey, he's a restricted free agent who wants to play elsewhere, what's hard to get. We can match his contract, but we can't make him take it, nor force a trade. He would rather go to the PSD than stay. So you think we should take him in the PSD and try to force him to continue playing reserves football here than allow him to enjoy senior footy at a club of his choice?

You're being ridiculous.

Ha so you are happy with 39
How do you go from me saying that you're flogging a dead horse to me being happy with a shitty pick for Leuenberger?

There is literally no logical links there. This was what I was saying before about you filling in blanks to make things align with your opinions.

It's childish.

Can't begrudge a player like Leuey - he's given us great service to the best of his ability.

Getting him where he wanted to go as an RFA is the right thing to do.
Works both ways doesn't it? Surely Leuenberger would have wanted the club to be adequately compensated considering we expended pick 4 on him and had we matched and not got him to Essendon, then I'd have thought he would appreciate the clubs position.

I'm not sure any player quite thinks like this.
