I haven't looked into Josh Walker at all but having looked at his height and weight I'd say he fits the mould as a mature body to help out up forward. Can ruck as well which means we can let our young forwards focus on being forwards instead of rucking.

Clearly you haven't seem him play. His ruck work is on par with Lewy Taylor. He won't take the number 1 defender and can only play FF or CHF. He will likely take one of Schache, Freemans, McStay or Closes spot. Will be good depth player/second or third tall for pick 39.

I am not quite sure why the recruitment of Walker and Jansen for a third rounder has caused so much pain for some.

By the 3rd round the draft is a less exact science and I would argue that Walker alone has shown enough to warrant that trade. He moves nicely, has some size, can take a grab and has a nice kicking action. Good tools to work worth. Jansen fills a need and has he two years development surrounded by some quality midfielders in Selwood, Bartel and co.

Geelong again proving to be a quality, fair club to deal with. Walker, providing he remains injury free, will play 20 games.

bastinac: Good Lord, what is happening in there?
Greg Swann: The Aurora Borealis?
Bastinac: The Aurora Borealis? At this time of year? At this time of day? In this part of the country? Localized entirely within your weights room?
Swann: Yes.
Bastinac: May I see it?
Swann: No.

Can't understand people upset about walker. Got him extremely cheaply, he has AFL experience and is still young enough to be part of the team for a while if all goes well. If not, it's unlikely that we will suffer for giving up a single third round pick for him AND Jansen.
We are super happy. I think majority of us wanted Casboult because he can take a contested mark.

Additionally, what is the alternative? Casboult? Can clunk it but big queries on his kicking and is a fair bit older, and would cost more in terms of picks which we need for academy players.

Somewhere back I thought I heard Swanny say they were looking at ruck stocks even if Leuy didn't go. So we will have Martin & West on the list and Archie Smith as a rookie, given Mabior Chol's performance at the draft combine any one think he could still slip right through to the rookie draft? or do you think we will have to trade to get a ready made onto our list that can also play forward? with the Leuy pick being low, Westy didn't have a great come back Im wondering now on the priorities Schache, Keys Hipwood seem to be a done deal as 1,2,3 in priorities. There about 100 mid fielders being talked about and some backman coming to us. Where do you think a ruck back up sits now in the priorities, I'm thinking it could be as high as 4th priority.

I'm told by a reliable source that Currie is a good ruckman performing very well in the VFL - just happens to have a beast who wants to ruck full games ahead of him.
Really? North fans seem to have come to the conclusion that he's terrible.

Fortunately Bastinac plays for North, I'm sure he'll understand.

We're not bringing him in to be our no.1 forward now or in the future. Not many of those players going around this off-season.

Yep that's it. Casboult has a rancid ball drop. At 25 there is a big question mark over that being coached out of his game. Walker has more potential for development, is cheap and is willing to come to us in search of more senior opportunities. 19 goals this year in his 16 games- it's not out of the question that he kicks 25-30 as well as taking the heat off some of the more under developed boys down there.

Never said he was going to be our number 1 forward.
